View Full Version : Head gaskets

I am not buying mls gaskets at the moment so what are people ideas on stock style gaskets? I know Plated said something about the (I think) 86 gaskets or something. I just need a good gasket for na for a while till $ is better. Also is any year thicker than others I will be running if able a e-cam and cobra 1.7's and might need a little thicker gasket to do so.

8548 or the 9333's. I actually had good luck with the factory ford 6051's off the explorers also.

it is a 2000 exploder motor motor if it matters. Are those felpro #'s ?

Yes..those are felpro part #'s. I like ROL head gaskets also...you can get them from autozone..just have to order them..takes a day.

Actually it is 8548 PT2, and 9333 PT1. The 33's have a metal center that will withstand more abuse than the 48's. I started off running 48's and they would eventually get little burn tracks up to a water jacket hole, after maybe 3 months of runs. The 9333's last a season now. I also run a bunch of nitrous and have my heads oringed.

i run 9333 i've ran up to 22 lbs of boost with them i wouldn't recomend it though.

Iam in the same boat, I have 1011-2fel-pros on currently and thinking about switch to cometic for turbo set up. What should I Do.

Chris is the the gasket you where telling us about when we where down there ? Something like it was a 86.5 gt gasket or something.

I have run the 8548pt2 gaskets with no problems. I think they are pretty thick.

Iam in the same boat, I have 1011-2fel-pros on currently and thinking about switch to cometic for turbo set up. What should I Do.
i don't like the 1011-2 my self.if it were me i'd do the 9333 tell them there for an 85 gt only,i dunno why they list them that way they just do.and spend the $49 on some arp bolts.good luck

anybody know the compressed thickness of the 8548's and the 9333's? I have a set of the 1011-2's in the garage, but after seeing what everybody has to say, I'm sort of nervous about using them.

nevermind, google is your friend.. 8548's have a compressed thickness of .047, thats way more than I want. I'll stick with the 1011-2's at .039. I didn't pay all that extra money for the block to be zero decked to throw another .010 of quench killing clearance in there. I'll take my timing without detonation please.

The 1011-2's wont be on there very long before your changing them. Those have to be the worst gaskets out. I would look into the 1133's MLS gaskets I have had great luck with those
