I got this idea to start having some fun with these machines I use at work. Just a typical CNC vertical mill...but I found an engraving function in the software that writes programs for the machine. Figured I would give it a shot.

It has it's own text included in the program, three types, 1) wide block 2) narrow block and 3) a simple non-outline text. I used the wide block text for this sample.

Text by itself is gravy. Now if I was to do some different style text or a logo or any other design then I would have to draw it on Autocad, export the .dxf file out, load it into our newest mill, pick the points, write the program and then I could run it. That's my next thing to try which is why I was asking for old vavlve covers. Anyway, here's a start, I'll keep you posted on the progress and hope to be able to offer a nice little custom touch to my SBZ family. :D

So what are the plans here? Do we bring our valve covers to you or do we just tell you what we want and you take care of it? Whichever, that is so cool.

Keith I can do any valve covers whether you give me a set or I buy them.

Not sure about pricing yet. Once I have a few designs done, it'll be a matter of setting up and running. The programming is what eats up the most time right now. As a guess.....

lettering only ~$30 per valve cover
custom designs/logos starting at $50 per valve cover, the more complex the design, the more it'll cost.

That car will never get out of the garage under it's own power, so go ahead and make him one vinny, he's the only one that will see it, LOL

I have that first stock foxbody valvecover he did. Funny I was just thinking about it the other day. I planned to finish the polish job on it, clear it, and hang it on the wall.
