Trying to decide which gear to go with. During the spring, and summer months the mustang will be driven 75-100 miles per week for work(all highway). Other than that she'll be at the strip. ..Oh yea it's going in my 92 ( in my sig). Any suggestions appreciated., Mike

I'd go with a 4.10...if your rpms are to high for your liking on the street..you can always go with a little taller rear tire.

I would say 3.73 just for the MPG but 4/10s would still work like Jeff said

Not familiar with the 3.90, does ford racing make it?? The car has 3.08 in it now. I also have a 4.56 in the box. Anyone familiar with this gear?? Thanks, Mike

I have 3.73's and wish I had 4.10 or maybe 3.90's I run a bigger tire 295's on the street and at the track run a 325/50/15 I am shifting just before the end of the 1/4 and wish I had 4.10's.
Not bad at all on the Highway with the 3.73's, think I would be fine with the 4.10's

I was pretty much in your same situation and decided to go w/ the 3.73's. Once I can drive it, I'll be able to tell how much I like them.

don't believe they do but Motive does. It's a middle ground that some have chosen to go for.

i have 3.73 in my car and i like them i kinda wish it was 3.90 or a 4.10 tho

I had 4.10's in my '89 GT, and it was a sweet gear to play with, but i hated the fact that first gear was just about as useless on the street as a wing on an eastgate ricer, my car was a 5 speed, I am thinkin about going with a 3.73 in my '94 GT, which is also a stick car.

Go with the 4.10's. I had 3.73 in my 04GT and after having 4.10's I wouldn't go with anything else. Bill

for me it was all about the drag strip. i dont wanna have to shift into 5th in the quarter so i think in my new moser 9" ill be going with 3.70's or 3.89's

but your cars a t56...i have a t56 in my camaro and im going with 4.30 gears. you have a double overdrive in that tranny, i bet you could run 4.10's or 4.30's and still see 20mpg and have better dragstrip times, unless you have a motor that dies at 5k.
4.30's put mine right in the right power band for a motor that makes power from 2,000-6500 i would imagine your lt1 dependant on the heads and cam you have would be similar. i think once you get out with some nice slicks and launch your car its going to be craving more gear on the low end. hell alot of 4th gen 6-speeds came with 3.42 gears and above, and they bog like crazy in 6th gear unless your doing 80 mph.
Just my recomendation man, if your looking for dragstip use.

I ran 373s when I first got the car and switched to 4.10s I prefer the 4.10s Milage was still mid 20s but it was much more fun around town.

Of coure there's a difference, it's simply the ratio between the two gear sets. From 3.73 to 4.10, it's 10%. So if you are turning 3000 RPMs with 3.73s, you'll be turning 3300 RPMs with 4.10s.

Since you are drag racing, just go with the gear that fits your MPH best. If you have to hit 5th with 4.10s, it's the wrong gear. Calculate your MPH at redline in 4th with the 4.10s and see if that's fast enough for you in the 1/4.

i have ran about every gear out there in a fox ... i like the 4.10 the best ... switched out a 3.73 for a 4.10 and picked up a tenth and 1 mph in the quarter ... the rpm difference is almost un-detectable ... i made it through the 1/4 just fine with 26x15 MT Slicks, plenty of rpms left ... just my .02 ...........

trapping above 120 with 4.10's or 4.30 im sure id probably shift into 5th
