OK, its ON!

The week of Feb. 26th Im on vacation and I want to have my car close or totally ready for paint by the end of that week. I dont care if I have to work 18 hours a day sanding my fingers to the bone, I have to get somewhere on this pile!!! Ive never gotten myself into this type of project so Im gonna need some help from you paint & body guys. Tips, trick, and tools. Post a lil here to help me along.:bigthumb

MATERIALS
I have decided on the paint I want, and I got a quote from KOI paint department in Newport on all the materials. I can afford it, but Id like to get the best deal I can on it. Is there anywhere around here or online, or does anyone have a hook-up on House of Kolor stuff? Id like to order everything this week.

What about tools, sand paper, body filler, paper and tape, stuff like that? where is the best place to buy that online or around here?

Thanks guys!
Matt J.

Make sure you have blocks also and remeber follow the body lines and contour of the car and dont sand with your fingers use a block cause you will have uneven sanding marks what in all do you want to know?

Ive been on www.Eastwood.com looking around. They have some cool stuff. I'll probably buy some sanding blocks and stuff this week.

Can I use chemical paint removers on bumper covers?
I'm scared I'll dump a bunch on em and melt them to a pile of plastic. :)

Hey Matt, I think there is a stangbangerz account at KOI places. You might save some $$.

Get one of those long straight sanding boards and use it with a guide coat to get your panels really straight. The prep work is everthing. I did NOT spend alot of time getting my car straight and it shows.

Unfourtuantely I found HOK paints cheaper online. I took my prices from the internet down to the local KOI and he said he could not touch those prices. Even at Wholesale.

As far as the inside, scuff it with scotch brite and prime it.

I'm gonna be the only one that is gonna suffer through the reassembly of this car, but at least I can go to the races and cheer him on now! ;)

Yeah, but Orange Foxes are a dime a dozen around here.

Orange = Old and Busted
Dull Factory Gray = The New Hotness.

You'll probably need more paint. Mine took 6 or 7qts. That covered everything, jambs, inner doors, under hood, under trunk, all over and one cool wing.:)

Kick Ass start thou!!:bigthumb
