I am getting ready to pull the T-5 out of the pile and have it gone through. The shift from 1st to 2nd doesn't really work too well. Synchros. I am pulling the tranny and dropping it off at a local repair shop. This guy supposidly knows fords so I trust him to fix it right. My question is about cost. What is the usual for a freshening of a T-5?

Not sure but i have a service manual that tells you how to rebuild a T5, and a friend of mine informed me of a fellow who rebuilds trannies for $100 bucks plus parts on average(used to own a shop, now does it on the side), i have yet to look into it tho, cuz i need to get my C6 rebuilt, If ya feel brave and wanna borrow my manual let me know.

He does so many he may have parts. He also deals with Hanlon motorsports. Give him a call.

30 bucks sounds good. Cheap but good. How about 30 and a case of beer.

I charge 250 plus the parts. You will need a second gear, one-two slider, and all blocker rings to fix what you mentioned. I have been doing trans rebuilds for 20 years, especially T5's tremecs and T56's, support this site, and keep the parts in stock. I deal with Tremec, not a middle man so you get your parts for a better price. If your trans doesn't need much more than this, I will charge you less for pulling it apart and doing the work.
