It has begun...

After sitting in the dark cold garage since late 2003 stripped of all body panels and dignity, my car is being brought back to life. I originally tore it apart to add an updated roll cage from Rigid Race Cars so we could dip into the 9's the next season in NMRA Real Street. After seeing the beautiful job Bill and Rob did on my car, I wanted a nice paint job to go with the new beautiful cage. So I stripped all the body panels off and that was it. I didn't have 5 to 6 grand to give someone for the nice custom paint job I wanted my car to have, so it had to wait. Craig, Vinny, Kevin and all my good friends kept on me to get it out and to put it back together so we all could go race together, but I just didn't have the funds to do what I wanted. So it waited.
A few months back I'm walking through the grocery store and I see a Hot Rod issue on the magazine rack that caught my eye. An entire issue dedicated to paint & body! I flipped through it for a minute before heading to the check out lane. I have read that issue over and over the last couple months and I'm dead set on learning the trades of Auto Body and Painting! I few coworkers brought me in a few more issues like these to read, and I just cant put them down. I'm really fascinated with this stuff and I think I can do it!!!
I got my tax return money back and have been buying tools and materials.
I picked out the color I want a couple months ago after hanging out at the KOI paint store in Newport. After hours of flipping through books of paint chips I fell in love with the Tangelo color from House Of Kolor. Orange has been my favorite color since I was a kid and I always wanted an orange car. Heres my chance, I'm gonna do it! I ordered my House Of Kolor paint materials online (best prices) and they are coming from California so they should be here this week sometime.
We got the Stang back into the 2L Motorsports garage once again last night, and we got started sanding today.

Lots of pics to come guys!

There is three years of dirt and crap built up on this car. There was even a mouse nest in the cowl area. Its gonna take lots of hard work, but results will be seen soon.

Im working on covering the holes in the firewall because I wont be using heat or ac. But I think I need some thicker metal to work with.

Sounds great Matt, anything I can do to help, I'm available in the evenings. Craigles said you were coming out to race with me this year. Looking forward to it. You know I always have food and a full cooler at the track. Keep us posted on the progress. Call if you need anything (and thanks for washing the trailer - use it anytime!)

Piano wire, a long bladed razor knife (like I use for tint) and patience. Youll need some double sided tape to put them back on afterwards.

Rock on Matt! I'm so happy that you are diving into this. Although my time is limited, I would love to help out if I can. I'm on "maternity leave" from one of my jobs right now, so I might be able to sneak away for a bit.

what ever you do, don't pull the body molding off. They will stretch and not go back on correctly. You can get piano wire at some parts stores, or if you know anyone with guitars, those strings work also.

Oh, and get good double sided tape for the reinstall. 3m or similar.

Those guns should work fine. Pay attention to which tip you are using. The large one for primer, and the smaller one for paint. I tried using the smaller tip with primer on my gun, and it did not work well.

I'm with you, I was never able to get mine off, and still have them in good enough shape to put them back on. They love to roll up when you pull them off, and that tends to junk them. I just bought new ones from Ford when I did mine.

Doesn't latemodel resto carry them?

My God, I am wooped!

I spent over 12 hours straight in that gayrage today. I have my doors looking horrible. both molding off, I had to use a long flat chissle and a hammer. They were on there goood! I found a little bit of rust on the bottom seams of both door skins, all light to medium surface rust. I cut out about a foot and a half section and grinded all the rust out. Now I have to weld the section of metal back in tomorrow. We finally got our big 80 gallon air compressor wired and plumbed and I fired up my new Harbor Freight $16 special DA sander. It makes short work of removing the paint from them doors with 80 grit.:bigthumb

Im hoping to have both doors ready for a little glaze and primer by tomorrow night. Then on to the fenders.

There is a lot more work and manual labor in this than I thought, but Im enjoying it. Jus me and my car, spending quality time together.:tongue2:

Big thanks to Chuck Carter for stopping out with his buddy Rob. Rob showed me about 100 things in a single hour. Im just trying to keep it all in my head.

If you bent your side molding all you need to do is take a heatgun and heat the metal strips that the double sided tape is stuck to and pull them off the molding. Then you are good to go as they will be very flexable after that.

331TwistedWedge
02-27-2007, 05:18 AM
hey matt, you probably have this covered but throw some flex in your primer when you get to the plastic parts via: bumpers, ground effects kit (if you have one) moldings and such ... that way your paint doesnt spider or flake off in 3 months ... dont be afraid to use some self tapping metal screws (something short) to get your moldings back on ... use some heat (to get your moldings flat) and counter sink the screws, then mud over top of them until your flat ... this will get you straight as an arrow, like a factory look ... i painted a few cars that came out decent, i do have some input if you need it ... painting is easy, a kid can throw on the color ... clear is tricky - just a couple of light coats with clear, when you make it that far (proper flash - gun pressure) ... or you will have orange peal out the ass and lots of wet sanding ... your paint job will only be as good as your prep work ... what you're doing sucks balls, *sanding* lol ... but it saves you a ton of money $$$$ and you gain a wealth of knowledge ... good luck :bigthumb

should I paint the moldings and doors seperate then put them on, or put them back on and get them straight and paint it all together?

I bought the expensive flexier clear coat, but I didnt get any flex additive. I'll hafta look into that. I definatly dont want paint falling off. I dont think HOK makes a flex additive. I wonder if it would be safe to add something like that to their paint?

i would paint the moldings once you have them on the door *prime the door first (of course)* ... it will make for a cleaner look ... i think the flex needs to be from the primer on up ... your base is the primer, so if that spiders or flakes - there goes your paint ... get with the people you have been talking to and see what they think ... i have only used dupont ... it came out nice, but i put on about 4 heavy coats of clear - now i know NOT to do that ... keep the clear thin, these chemicals made today are the shit: no need to lay it on an inch thick like me ... lol ... get with chris (plated) he should have some really good tips, being he does it everyday ...

Thanks for letting me use the trailer Craig, you guys are a life saver!

Yea, it was nice meeting you Ray. Now I can put an ugly face with a name...LMAO! j/k

I can not say enough good things about my man Rob Lewis at Rigid Race Cars! On top of being one of the best welders I have seen, and one of the friendliest guys on the board, but he will bend over backwards to make sure his customers are happy. No really, I got him to bend over backwards in the shop tonight, it was impressive. Seriously though, he made sure my safety equipment was exactly how I wanted it. He didnt stop welding till I was comfortable with the way everything worked. Thanks Rob, your my hero! :bigthumb

Here are some pics of the minor surface rust I took care of on the bottoms of my doors.cut a small patch out of both doors, grinded all the cancer out and welded them back in. After a coat of etching primer, I'll add a bead of seam sealer and a little mud to smooth everything out and you'll never know it was there!

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

little by little were getting stuff done.

My ADD is kicking in real bad on this project and I cant concentrate on stuff well. Its just that there is sooo much to do that its too easy for me to get off track. I'll start working on a door, walk away after 2 min. and pick up a grinder and start grinding on the engine compartment, stop that after a minute and start looking at a rust spot then go get a beer then have a smoke then answer my phone....and next thing I know I havent acomplished dick!

I stood back and had a hell of an idea the other day. I needed a system, step by step....baby steps Bob. lol. OK, I need to start at the FRONT of the car. start sanding on the core support till I get it the way I want. Move to the engine comp. and weld holes up, add metal, sand, body filler, sand, glaze, sand till I get it the way I want, move to the firewall and get it titties. Then on to the inside. Prep, primer and paint the cage. That way I can wrap it up in masking paper and it is safe and sound till were finished. Only then can I start sanding and adding body filler to my exterior panels.
OK, I have my system down. Time to pop some ritalin and get busy. hey whats that over there, cool...truck parts, hey I bet that would work on...shit!

enough....here some pics for you bitches.

Heres Kevin Schaber with his gas mask on after ariving with a Crave Case of Double Jalapenio Sliders. nice. :bigthumb

Im starting to get frustrated.

seems like Im not getting anything done. I have been busting my ass on it everyday, and Schaber has been right there with me. Its like theres not enough hours in the day. We started sand blasting the rust out of the inside of the driverside fraim rail and I got some "Chassis Saver" stuff from the paint store. Its suposed to be the same as the POR 15 stuff.
Now I find myself needing steel and I dont know where to go. I need some 1/2" inside diameter metal tubing for the K member bolts to run through on the inside of the fraim rail. I need some 4" wide 1/8" thick or so plate to cover the gaping hole I made in the side of my frame rail, and I need a big sheet of thin steel to make my panels to cover the giant holes I made in the inner fender in front of the strut towers.:(

where can I find some scrap steel or new stuff to buy?

I also need to go get my Argon tank filled tomorrow. damn.

this damn thing is starting to nickle and dime me to death. It seems like Im spending more time running around getting parts and supplies than working on the car. This bites. Im starting to doubt myself here. Im about ready to walk away from it for a while.

Sounds like this post is turning into a rant... lol. I know what you mean, but it will come together. Rob had to cut out and replace his whole frame rail. You could give him a call and see if he had anything left. Good luck, it will be worth it.

Hey Matt my brother was able to get you some body filler. I don't know if you already had some but now you have more if you want it. I did not even look to see what kind it was but it was a gallon jug and he said it was their best stuff. BTW he works at Evercoat so it is good stuff. Only kicker is the whole label is in spanish.:D BTW if you find a place for scrap steel let me know. I could use an approx 4ft by 4ft piece to do my trunk, approx 16gauge should do the trick. Just let me know if you still need the filler.

There is a yard that takes scrap and sells steel up in lockland not to far from cincy speed. I don't remember the name, but they have all kinds of stuff. You could always ask the guys that did your cage/chassis work to sell you a few scraps.

If Rob or anyone else can't get it for you, give Kevin Doe a pm on here. I think his dad works at a steel place and can get it.

Just for the record: Im PWI...I got a Bud Light (yuuck) and Jim Beam Black/wiskey sour in front of me. So dont judge my language ass holes!

To start, Ive been kinda depressed because I feel like Im not getting anywhere on this thing. Everyone is out with there cars racing UMTR and all that shit and my pile is still on jackstands and I dont know where half of the bolts, nuts, fastners, and clips are for this whore! I feel like Im moving backwards. I keep finding rust and shit to fix...Maybe Im just a perfectionist. I want everything to be show car perfect...and its hard to do. But at least Im working on it instead of letting it be a mouse house in the corner like the past three years...lol! I keep remembering Vinny telling me..."I dont care if you wipe it off, check
the air in the tires or whatever, just go do something to it Johnson!"
Finally, I feel like we are getting somewhere though. I feel like were making progress and I may be able to start doing body work this century. Id like to have it painted by my birthday (May 31st) before the summer heat gets here.

So here is what we've been up to...

Still battling the rust in the framerails. Heres what Ive started with and what Ive taken out.

Big thanks to my good friend Rob Lewis at Rigid Race cars for hooking me up with some metal stock to fix this rusty mess. And to think I thought was working with a rust free car.
We sand blasted all the rust out and I spot welded in some metal tubing to keep the framerails from collapsing when I tighten down the K-member bolts. I painted the entire inside of the fraimrails with Chassis Saver sealent paint and Schaber and I welded in 1/8" steel plate over the holes we made...

I feel your pain. I just hope to get mine to the street sometime this year. Seems like I save a little and spend a little. Hell at this point I'd be happy to get 4 tires on the ground. You'll get there it just takes time. The biggest thing I've found to help is to not set a deadline to get it done. It seems like I always get discouraged when the car is never ready when I hope. On this car I just keep telling myself it will be done when it is done.

Welp, I spent another $240 at the paint supply joint today. I got some good epoxy primer for my bumper covers and ground effects. I also picked up a product called "thin ice" its a body filler specially made for glazing in little problem areas on plastic body parts. like the damn liscense plate screw holes on my GT nose. I got some way over priced wax & grease remover, a case of red scotch brite pads, some more HOK medium reducer and some adhesion promoter. I think Im gonna take back the reducer though. I have three gallons and that seems like waaay too much. I shouldnt need more than 2 gallons, and at $50 a gal. I dont need extra materials sitting in the closet. D:

Greg and Kris, you guys are gonna hafta stop down to check out my progress and have a brew! Travis' garage is on Murnan road in Cold Spring across from Campbell Co. Auto Body. Its down past where you go over the AA highway.

I was gonna buy some pre cut and bended inner fender panels and just weld them in, but I decided to do it myself. It took a little more time, but the gratification of doing it all yourself is worth it! I started by using poster board as templets so I could get the panels just right.

Today I vacuumed out the interior, blew it out with a blow gun, and vacuumed it again and wiped everything down with Lacquer Thinner soaked rags. Nick Middleton came over and helped out too. We started painting my patch panels with a coat of Chassis Saver to keep the surface rust off them. Nick had the great Idea to just cover all the floor boards and inner firewall. We put a heavy coat on and went to dinner. I came back and put on another coat for good measure.
Hopefully It will be good and dry tomorrow so I can scuff and put my first coat of epoxy primer on the roll cage.

After a good 12 hour day I got the roll cage in primer. Most of the way...

The HoK KD2000 Epoxy primer is a two part primer that is mixed 4 to 1. I mixed 12 oz. primer and 3 oz. activator to give me 15 oz. I used both my Devillbis Finishline guns (the full size gun with th 1.8 fluid tip and the smaller 1.0 touch up gun). 15 oz. wasnt enough to cover the entire cage with one good coat but I stopped there because I was getting pretty frustrated. I cant seem to get my gun set up right. The shit is pretty thick and it wouldnt come out of the gun unless I had the fluid knob all the way open, then the shit would just run out of the tip. I was getting pretty mad, but I ended up getting it to spray a little bit and did what I could. The shit was coming outa the gun like undercoating or rhino liner stuff...nasty.

Heres everything masked up and wiped off ready to go...

Ive read up and it looks like Im doing everything correctly to get the spray pattern set right, but I just cant get it right. The tech manual did say you can reduce it up to 10 percent. Maybe I need to try adding reducer to improve flow out. I dunno.

Hopefully I can get some help and finish it tomorrow.

Sorry Carl,
We really did plan on coming. I started with this just after noon yesterday and once I got going I pretty much was committed to it. I couldnt just walk off with a gun full of primer. I didnt get finished till allmost 11pm. Jen wasnt going to go without me because she didnt even know where it was. Sorry again bro.

I talked to a buddy last night and found out that I need to reduce that stuff to get it to spray right. HoK says up to 10 percent, my buddy said I can reduce it farther if need be to get it to spray right.

Im gonna give it another shot today. ;)

wild87stang
05-13-2007, 03:12 PM

PonymanfiveO
05-13-2007, 08:42 PM
Well, I gave it another shot today and it turned out beautiful!
I sanded down what I had done yesterday and cleaned everything off very well. I mixed up 20 oz. of Primer with 5 oz. of Activator and 1.5 oz. of Medium Reducer. It had a nice thiner consistency to it compared to yesterday. I got the gun set up pretty easily and laid out 3 coats in no time.

Heres my little paint table with my gun stand and some of my stuff.
I dont have a funnel or anything to get the primer out of that gallon jug without making a mess, so I just put some masking tape around the rim to make a spout. worked pretty well...

I gotta say you're doing the best DIY job I've ever seen. It's real refreshing to see someone pay attention not only to the deatils, but to the safety part as well. That was a kickass job fixing those framerails. I've preached to people about bad spots like that until I was blue in the face, telling them it should be taken care of.....only to have them throw their noses up at me. And taking care of rust the RIGHT WAY, I'm impressed:bigthumb Treating the metal after you've welded it in is crucial to making it last. That chassis saver paint is the shit too, I use the hell outta it. You gotta watch putting it on heavy though,it gets big pockets of pinholes in it that will let moisture in. It says it on the can and you should let it flash at least a few hours before recoating. I'm almost positive you will have to scuff that primer before you paint, if it sits longer than 24 hours...maybe even less. I would definately use the little touch up gun for color and clear for the cage, it will use less material and it doesn't take much to cover tubing. You'll aslo have less chance of hanging runs all over it.

I know it can get overwhelming to take on such a huge project, and its important not to get burnt out. When you feel like you'll never get it done, just think to yourself "it's just nuts, bolts, and sheetmetal, it's not that difficult" Also, channel that "ADD" into some effective time management. Think about what you can do on something else while this is drying. Beat on this fender while your mud is drying on the quarter. Stuff like that. Just imagine the whole process from start to finish and put it all in order. That way you don't get ahead of yourself, you don't do something before you should have, and you don't end up doing it twice. For example....I don't know where you're painting it, so if you get to use a good paint booth you won't have this problem so much. But, when I did my black 88GT, I painted the engine bay, the backs of my doors, and the back of my hood first. Second, I painted the car itself, with out the doors or any bolt on sheetmetal on it. Third, I hung all the sheetmetal except for the hood...it was placed on a stand. The point to all this was I didn't want any tape lines in my jambs and I could get away with the color match because its black. Anyway, I had this beautiful, perfectly clean, shiny black engine compartment. Well, when I painted the remainder of the car, in my buddy's gagrage mind you...the overspray made its way under all my paper and plastic and ruined my hard work. I was used to painting in a downdraft booth where the overspray instantly hits the floor and gets sucked into a big filter. Instead it hovered inside my doghouse until it dissipated and dried. Yee-haw.......

The moral of the story is learn from my mistake and at least do a super sweet tape job to cover all you are painting before the actual car itself.

In closing I just want to say I'm proud of you for doing such a good job so far and I wish I was there to help ya. Rock on:cool1:

First of all let me say thanks Isaac. Kind words like that keep me motivated and working hard. I appreciate it buddy.;)

I finally got some work done to my car for a change. Ive been busy with the pinks car the past month or so, so my car hasnt got much done to it.
I stopped by to do a little work today and found that most of the bare metal was starting to get surface rust on it so I cleaned it all up real good and put a few good thick coats of HoK Epoxy primer on it so it dosent continue to rust. Im not in a hury to get this thing done and Im not pressed for time so it can sit without rusting now.

Im not totally done with sanding all the body filler completely flat and smooth so you can see some high spots and waves in it. Man thats a lot of labor intense work.:(

Big props to ma man plated for turning me on to that stuff.
Im getting a lot of pinholes but I think its my fault, the way I mix it.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
I was up early yesterday morning being lazy surfing the web, and I ended up on Vinnys Myspace page. I watched the dirty dozen video on there and my heart started to beat a little faster. So I started checking out his picturetrail account like I do pretty often and was so damn motivated by those pics of his car that I jumped up, changed into dirty clothes and headed out to work on my car till afternoon. It feels so damn good to see this car start to take on the shapes it has. After three years of sitting with no motivation...were finally starting to see a flower bloom. :)

Thanks Vinny...your the best man.
I just want to make you proud.

Hot Damn!

I finally got my ass back in gear and am putting some love into my body panels.

After spending over 6 hours Sunday just cleaning the garage:eek:, I worked on the driver side quarter panel for alil bit tonight. This quarter has some history.
Back before I was the owner of the car it was wrecked and had a brand new Ford quarter hung on it. It was in primer when I got the car and I had a friend paint it black to match the car shortly after.
A couple years ago when I decided to take the car apart it became a pain in the ass. Whoever hung that quarter did too damn good of a job and used that urethane sealant they use to install windshields with. It was a nightmare getting that quarter window out. even after shattering it, it was rediculous work to get the rubber frame out!
I ended up with a bunch of dings under the window from where we tried prying it out. I took care of them today with a little Evercoat Rage Gold. Since they were not deep at all and it was nearly impossible to reach the back of the panel I just took the paint off to bare metal and cleaned it thoroughly before wiping on a coat of body filler.

http://pic40.picturetrail.com/VOL366/1161904/15403940/278769431.jpg

Let it dry a few minutes and hit it with some 80 grit on a DA sander...

http://pic40.picturetrail.com/VOL366/1161904/15403940/278769436.jpg

And moved on with some 120 grit on a sanding block...

http://pic40.picturetrail.com/VOL366/1161904/15403940/278769442.jpg

I spent a few more minutes getting it level and most of the way flat and I called it quits for the night. I got the call for dinner time actually.:D

I hope to have a lot of it in primer by the weekend. check back for progress!:bigthumb

Looking good! Glad to see you helping out brown girl! That's cool as hell! Vinny used to come to the top of the stairs and just look at me, I knew the look (get your butt down in the garage, I need your help!). I wasn't much help, but I did what I could whenever he asked. Luckily, most of the time there was somebody there helping him (Kevin, Platedturbobug, Jeff, Timido, Glassman, just to name a few).

snapped a few pics as I worked tonight.

Heres the ground effects sanded down ready for primer.
I bought a bottle of this rubbing compound/cleaner type liquid
called "Scuff Stuff" and wetted a red Scotch Brite scuff pad.
It made quicker work of it than using sand paper. I highly recommend
the "Scuff Stuff". ;)

I just got a big ass box delivered to me from 50resto.com. I hate that place but they got me some nice shit for my car....oh well, suck it up I guess.
All new window weatherstripping for the doors and roof line molding (above the doors). It was too damn expensive, but hopefully the details like this will make my car stand out in the staging lanes. ;)

Glassman is suposed to stop by MD tomorrow and will hopefully hook me up with some love on my hatch so I can have it in primer by weeks end. Dont fret, more pics to come peoples! Soon!

Glassman helped me get the trim around the window off the hatch and I went ahead and cut the glass out to make it easier to work with and Id like to find a non-defrost glass to put in its place. I think they look better and racecars dont need defrosters anyways. ;)

Im probably going to put a couple coats of high build primer over it to make sure it dosent have pinholes everywhere in it.

Finally got to my doors. Drivers side is sanded down and wiped some yeller mud on it last night.

Tomorrow night. from about 6pm till bed time. :bigthumb

I had a shitty day today. I found some pin holes in my new bumper cover and glazed over them and got it all sanded down. I decided to try this House of Kolor KWIKURE EPOXY PRIMER (KP21) I got a quart of. I mixed it up and it just didnt look right. The primer and activator wouldnt mix together for some reason. I kept stirring it and it just wouldnt mix right. It was thick and clumpy on the bottom and runny on the top. So I put some in the gun and tryed to put a coat on and it looked horrible. I just stopped and cleaned everything up and called it a night. I wish I knew what is wrong with this stuff  It was expensive and I doubt I can take it back. :(

Sparky
11-11-2007, 11:48 PM
Was it clumpy before or after you activated it? Sounds like they gave you the wrong stuff or the can needed shaken and stirred before you mixed it. You should always check the bottom of the can with a stir stick to make sure the "solids" aren't settled in the can. If they gave you the wrong stuff or the can was old, they'll take it back.

It had sat for a few months so I left it on the paint shaker for an extra long time.

I got the bumper in primer this evening and I think I figured out whet I did wrong last night. :o Its probably too embarrassing to post, but if it keeps someone else from making the same mistake it'll be worth it.

Apparently I got in a hurry yesterday and wasnt paying attention when I added a splash of Reducer to the primer. To back my story up, when I bought my materials, I bought everything from House of Kolor...I mean every thing!

So most of HoK stuff comes in the same gallon cans. My can of reducer and can of Wax and Grease remover were right next to each other. Yup, I grabbed the wrong can. It turned the primer mix into a spooky mush.:D
I wont do that again. My advise to anyone trying the auto body thing like me, keep your stuff separated so you dont mix them up...oh, and take your time.:bigthumb

Thats some good advice. Did it screw up your gun ?

PonymanfiveO
11-12-2007, 09:51 PM
Everything seems ok. I was worried about the bumper because I did get a light coat on it yesterday with that mess. I sanded it down today and cleaned it really well and it seems to be fine. I got three good coats on it tonight and it looks beautiful! Cant wait to bolt it up!

Funny you ask about my gun. I shoot my primer out of a cheap Harbor Freight gun (it works awesome by the way) as I got started yesterday, a screw fell out of the gun and I couldnt find it. I had to stop and switch over to my nice Devillbis gun in the middle of that nightmare. So afterwards I had to break down both my guns and clean them out last night. :(

Since its all in primer, I decided to trial fit the front body panels tonight and begin block sanding them on the car. The bumper still needs a little tweeking to fit right with the fenders. I'll need a second person there to help me with that.
anyways, check it out...

Im finally getting the hang of it!

Big thanks to Kris for spending time with me on this thing. I was getting frustrated quickly with it. Hell, I wanted to buzz all the bondo down with a DA and prime it. :D
Kris taught me to be patient with it and wrap a paint stick with some paper and work it
down slowly. It takes a lot of time and patience but thats the only way to get a really straight panel. I also have learned to look with your hands not your eyes. Plated taught me a lot about this too. Use your hands to feel the highs and lows...dont trust your eyes to see every thing. ;)

I hope everyone remembers this is my first time at all this auto body crap and I am learning EVERYTHING as I go. I have a strong will to learn a new trade...more like form of art, and I want to do it right. Im lucky to have great resources in the form of good friends who are willing enough to teach me...and have the patience for it. :D
Hopefully when were finished with it, it will be something to stand back and be proud of.

Im sorry, I'll have more pics up soon. Im just reluctant to keep snapping them because it all looks the same. Bondo is bondo, right guys.

Id like to get a tripod and take some video of the many steps in this process. Im sure there are some people who follow this thread and think about trying it too. Maybe short video clips would show more detailed instructions. I know I learn better that way, tell me how to do something new and maybe I will get it right. Show me how to do it and I have a better idea how to do it. Something to think about. Let me know if your interested in seeing some video in this thread!
