You have a pushrod motor dropped in that 02 GT? ;)

/me moves to Modular....

1. Is the car a stick? and if so, does the whining go away if you put the clutch in?

2. Do you have underdrive pullies? or have you ever had any of the pullies off the car?

Could be a/c compressor bearings, idler/tensioner bearings, waterpump, or p/s pump groaning. See if the noise lessens or worsens when the steering is turned. It could also be the timing chain tensioners worn and making noise, how many miles on it?

73000 i think.. i know some of the noise is the alternator. the idler pulley is new,

Thats a good idea! I would bet my life, that new brakes and shocks, will stop that pesky whine at idle.......

So the noise is coming from the brakes and shocks now..Best thing to do is have your tires rotated....

Muffler bearings? Firewall Gasket? Those tend to go out.

Forward or rear muffler bearings? The center muffler bearing support, could be bad too.

I thought the '02 GT's had firewall o-rings, instead of gaskets.

Maybe its the kanuder valve making that noise, now that I think of it....

Better hope its not the muffler bearings, you have to have a left handed pipe wrench to change those and they are expensive!:bigthumb

Hopefully it's not the labia rings..If that's the case you will have to take it to the gynochanic...They will will have to lube it up and give it a thorough exam...That should be done once a year as part of an annual exam anyway...

You would have to get under it and see if the bearing spins counter clock wise or not...let us know. I think Doug might have the wrench you will need.

Why don't you sell it and by a Fox body.... Once that body is wrecked it will alway's make funny noises.. I'm sorry to tell you this... Buy the Saleen you drove at the cruise that's a nice ride..If all else fails sell the seats and buy new ones. That will get the bad carma out of the car..Or take a ride in a new one and all you're problems will go away..... PS I would still look between the seat and the steering wheel for the problem.. Good luck!! keep us posted Beefcake it's you're turn...

I might be able to help ya out josh. I should be pulling my drivetrain out this weekend, to swap in my big block ( as long as my tax refund hits by then:mad: ). I think my muffler bearings might work for your 02. Your welcome to them. I'd check with Craig to make sure their compatable though. It's the '92., Mike:bigthumb

It might be your 710 cap !!!

I went to autozone and asked for this and the guy behind the counter actually knew what I was talking about.. I was lmfao :HYF:

either way, You say the noise is coming from behind the TB at idle, so have someone start your car with the hood open and light up the engine bay as best as you can, and see if you notice anything broken, cracked etc.

I would say if you have switched to a cold air intake, one of your couplers is cracked at the bottom over the passenger side valve cover and echos off of it.

it's worth a look ??? Good luck
