is there any junkyards that you can walk thru and look for what you want or are they all like Stickers and you can only ask the people if they have sumthing

Carthage auto parts on North Bend. And theres another one on North bend down form Carthage.

well, theres alot of garages that would qualify. You can walk thru mine for 2 dollars.

I was there not long ago.. most of their stangs are pretty beat up or stripped, I managed to find a distribution block on a 90-ish GT... but that was about all that was left. what kinda parts are you lookin for Josh???

OH, by the way when you go in there and they ask you what you are lookin for dont just say "mustang parts" they dont like that, tell them a specific part that you are lookin for, and if you see sumthin else that you want when you are in there, go back and ask them, they particularly dont like when you pull before you pick

Strickers will let me walk through. Might try Singleton's. Trester didn't have much in the way of mustangs last time I was there.

you will find it hard to find a 289 in a junkyard. as for a fox, i would look in the paper.

Hahaha... good luck with that one, I came across a 289, but no ones seems to want to sell me the extra parts they have lying around....

and as for foxes, here on the board or the papers like suggested...

U pick-n-pull on Seymour down by Cincy Speed, yet to find out exactly where it is at, but the one soth of Columbus is nice.

Tresters, I have a old RC racing buddy that works there, I can pretty much walk around, just tell them what you are looking for. Most places don't want parts stripped off the motor.......

Actually Josh i DO know where a 289 is...... its at Shneiders auto parts just up the street from Jack's, its in a red '65 stang hardtop, the guys runnin the yard let me borrow a 4 foot breaker bar and a socket and i gave it hell to try to turn it, and it wouldnt budge.... but... its a complete 289 for $350 :D

and by the way there are 2 stangs there, a 65 and a 66 neither of them are worth a damn, the red one that has the 289 has sat for like 18 years before he got it or sumthin i heard the guy say, and i think he said it sat in the junk yard for several years (THE FIREWALL IS RUSTED FROM THE BODY!!).... might wanna soak that one in diesel :D

Lol! yeah, but with that one... you can cut and polish all you want... theres no diamond in that one, lol! when i went there i was hoping they would sell it cheap so my dad and i can finish up our 289 block, but that clearly didnt happen, oh well, its a 2 barrel motor anyway, ours is a 4 barrel engine:D

You are aware that a 302 and 289 blocks are the same. I could understand if you were restoring a classic and you wanted it to "original" but why would you even go thru the hassle to put one in a fox body unless you just had it sitting around?

we have a 68 with a 289 in it and we was thinking bout anothere 289 but making it fuel injected

A 302 is essentially a stroked 289. Why don't you just destroke a 302 5.0 motor if it is that important to you or just build a 302 and tell them it is a 289 since they are absolutely identical from the outside.

and your '68 has a 289?? is it an early '68?

Now if you could somehow manage to crap out a (TRUE) 289 Hi-Po block that would be worth messin with IMO....

still not getting why u want a junkyard fox. just within a 2 mile radius of where i live i can think of about 4 foxes sitting that you could get for about 500 bucks i bet.
and back to the 289...you make no sense at all. their damn near the same motor as a 302. so you think it would be cool to have less power than a stock 5.0 car? i think this has spawned from you talking out your butt without really knowing what your talking about to start with, as do most of your posts as of lately.

Hey Josh there is an 87-93 Fox hatchback for sale on 131 outside of Milford, its green with a black front end :bigthumb

And as for a 289, I would assume an older engine such as a 289 or older 302 would not have such a superoir casting quality as compared to a newer 5.0 block of today, your coolant jackets and oil passages prolly arent even as big, and the insides of both prolly have a rougher surface, causing more resistance... and in turn... more heat, especially if you plan to hotrod it. but that is my take on it.

If i had the dough, I would try to find an explorer motor like everyone else and throw that in a fox, that would be a base for a very fast car, and dont worry about an older far less superior block casting, but if you were building anything from early '68 and older, and you want originality, then go for it.
