Heres what Im thinking....

2007 Powerfest at Tri-State Dragway
July 14th, 9am-4pm. Two classes of Racing:

1) The Vinny Changet Quick 32 Street car shoot-out. Open to ALL Street Cars. Participants will have mufflers, DOTs, insurance, & tags that match the car. Your car should be NHRA legal for the ETs it runs. (ie you run 9's, you better have the approved equipment) NO BRACKET RACING DELAY BOXES OR TIMERS. You will have 2 rounds to qualify for the race. After qualifying, the quickest 32 will then race, bracket style, to determine the winner. Those who dont qualify, will be able to run in the Street Bash Class.

As a Bonus, The car with the fastest MPH in qualifying, will be awarded a $100 Gift Card and a Plaque.

A second Bonus, the car with the Quickest ET, in qualifying, will be awarded a $100 Gift card and a plaque.

The winner will recieve a $300 Gift card & Plaque.
Runner up $150 & Plaque.

2)Street Car Bracket Bash!! Open to ALL Street cars. Same rules as above. I want this simple as possible.
Winner, $200 Gift card & Plaque.
Runner up, $100 Gift card & plaque.

ENTRY FEE...........Whats too much? I dont want to strap anyone. I want EVERYONE to show up and have a Great Time.

Im thinking $40 for car, driver and one crew person for the Quick 32.

$30 for the Street Bash participants and one crew member.
Non racing participants, $10. KIDS under 16, FREE!! I want this to be a FAMILY EVENT!! Bring the wife, the kids, kids friends etc etc. Bring the Whole family and enjoy the day.

Show and Shine? $10 for car and driver with a Top 10 awarded at the end of the day.

OR.....

Do you guys just wanna pay $20-$25 and have an open track day?

Speak now, I value everyones opinion.

A 12 second car will probably get in the 32 AND its Bracket Style racing. Your 12 second car has a chance to beat a 9 second car racing this way. It makes the playing field even.:)

Might be a good idea to have an "other" class so that folks that don't fit into the 2 classes can make a few runs, or sprinkle some "open" time in-between the class runs.

I'll bring the road race beast down for a pass or two - but it doesn't fit under either class you have suggested.

Well I have a big problem....93hulk has just informed me that my car can not compete. My car is tagged, titled, and street driven. But the way my turbo is set up it is to hard to get a muffler on it. It has a down pipe only. My cars turbo acts like a muffler. I drove the car to edgewater opening day raced it, and drove it home, that for me was like an hour drive there and another hour back. I've never planed on it having a muffler so I wasn't worried about trying to get one to fit. But it is a big deal to get one on it.
So if it's as big a deal has 93 hulk is making it out to be I'll just sit this out.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't trying to start trouble just simply implying that his car has no muffler but it's street drivin all the time and makes pretty long trips without one. I'm in the same boat as him, the way were running my downpipe I dont know if i'll be able to fit a muffler on either, but I already stated that before. Either way i'll be there, whether or not i'm able to race in it or not I dont know. Not starting trouble at all though, either i'll make the adjustments to the rules or i'll sit the day out.

I was going through Vinny's old emails last night and came across this one. I thought I would share it with you. It was in his "sent" bin to someone about becoming a sponsor, but here is part of the email he sent...

This is StangBangerz.com's 5th year and I'm looking to do something special for our 5th anniversary. I'm looking to rent the track out for a day and have an event for the SBZ members and sponsors. Planned on having normal test and tune session along with a few grudge matches, a car show, possibly a swap meet area and if I can fit some bikinis in there somewhere I will. I'm needing $3000 for the track rental and was looking to see if any of the site sponsors would be interested in helping to make this event happen.

The last two spring cruise-ins brought 200 cars and I'm guessing around 500 people if not more. Any sponsors that help make this happen can hang banners, set up displays, bring cars to run or show and if there's anything else I can do, just ask.

Every spring event keeps getting bigger and I fully expect this year to be our biggest yet. We became kind of known for our burnouts after the event and with as many cars and people showing up, I don't feel comfortable having the event at any place other than the track. That way we can have a burnout contest, people can run their cars or just show them and everybody has a good time and does it safely. Thanks for everything, hope to see you soon!

WHOA!!! BACK TO THE DAMN TOP!!!!

Does anyone have any questions about this event? Im trying to keep it as simple as possible...I have an idea.

ANY Cincy Speed customer can come into the store between now and July 10 and register for FREE admission to the track on July 14th!! (no purchase necessary) (sorry quick 32 guys arent eligable) SO now whats your excuse?
I will, Hell someone else, will pull 5 random names from the bucket and those 5 people will get into the track for FREE and will be allowed to race for the Street Heat prizes!! Door prizes are also on the table!!! Now is that cool or what>?!??!
OH SNAP!!! I think Ill ask MD and Rigid if they want to participate as well....Ill have to place collection Buckets at their business so more people can register to win FREE admission.
JULY 14th!!! WOHOOO!!!!!

I guess I better get the rest of the details planned.:bigthumb

How cool is this.....

AL of Al's Auto Repair---119 McWhorter St---Lockland, Oh 45215 has donated $50 CASH to the Quick 32. For those famiiar with bracket racing, the term "package" describes your run. (ie you dial a 12.0, have a near perfect light, and run a 12.0, your "package" is almost perfect) So anyway, the competitor with the best "package" in the Quick 32 wins $50 CASH!!!!

I didnt ask for his donation, it was a complete (Great) surprise. So if a couple of you guys can call Al when you need general auto repair done (or just to tell him THANKS for supporting the Powerfest)that would be very cool.
513-563-8306

If anyoe else would like to donate anything for the Powerfest, just give me a call at the Shop. Im getting with the Plaque guy next week, so if anyone wants to sponsor one of those, (or any other idea you might have, best light, longest burnout, slowest ET, etc etc etc) let me know.

Thanks everyone!!!

I think we are going to be pretty busy that day (Im hoping anyway) I guess you could T&T during the qualifying runs and when the brackets are done, we will open the track back up.:)
