Voltage Question

Is it normal for battery voltage to drop from 14.4 to 12.9 when the electric fan kicks on? :confused: I am just curious because I have a new battery, new alternator, new battery cables, new starter & new starter relay and I want to cruise all summer without any charging problems. :D Thanks for any help.

It shouldn't drop that much with just the fan kicking on.

It's at idle and yes I have under drive pullies.....

Yes..then that is normal for your setup. With underdrive pulleys your alternator is not generating much current at idle...once you get the revs up it is fine. You will be fine this summer. 12.9V is still above just the battery voltage.

you should be ok, but you could upgrade to another alternator, but i would let it go.
