Ray came out tonight and we pulled the engine back out. We were talking about wheel and tire combos so I grabbed the welds out and put one on. The weld is a 15x10 with a 6.5" backspace, with a 275/50/15 MT drag radial. The rearend was cut 3/4" per side and it fits great! Fills out the wheel well nicely.

Yeah that looks great. I have a new set of 325/50's, just need to dismount these first. In hindsight, I wish I would have narrowed the rear a little more. Again, yours looks sweet!

Well for once I kinda did it the way I should have. I tried the 325's w/ the stock width and it just rubbed more than I liked so I took it to Gary Rohe and told him to cut it to whatever makes them tuck nicely. So in the end the rear was cut to fit that tire. Now my problem will be that I wanna run a 17" wheel but I wonder how far they will sit it. You won't have that problem running a 17" wheel they acutally should fit perfect on yours. I guess you can't have it all.

Exactly, if you look at some of the other pictures where I have the 17x8 wheels off a 98 GT, they sit in board a little too much, but a spacer should bring it out just enough to look halfway decent. I have the welds, but I also wanted something else I could throw on to change the look from time to time.

I put all the wheel and tire specs with pictures so that if someone wants to duplicate it, it should be pretty straight forward.

Got a cool part that should have been here already, apparently Wolfe is backed up. I'm trying to borrow a tool to roll the lips on the fenders. When they get rolled and the new part is bolted on, I'll get some pics of the car on the ground over the tires. Gives me a chubby just going out to the garage to work on it. :lol:

Worked on some suspension tuning today and installed the Wolfe chute mount. I used a 2" hole saw to make a nice clean cut. In hind site, I would probably go with a 1-7/8" hole saw. The gap around the receiver looks fine, but like everything It could be a little bit better.

The radiator sits underneath the top of the core support which is going to take up some intercooler space. You guys see any problem with me cutting a section out of the bottom of the bumper cover? I don't want to, but the i/c is pretty big and there's not much room behind an lx front bumper.

Nope, not going that far with. I started by welding up the majority of the smaller holes in the strut towers and a few here and there. Been grinding, filling and sanding trying to make them look good. Sort of wish I hadn't touched them, cuz now they have to be fixed, lol. Also doing some work on the frame rail's. Just trying to make an improvement, not really going for show quality.
Yours does look really good though. You apparently have more patience than I do. :)

Been working night and day in the garage, I get frustrated with one task and switch to another. Seems like everything at this point has become a pain in the ass. I keep telling myself it will all pay off in the end.

In order to make room for the 5" downpipe the radiator had to be moved under the upper core support. What I hadn't really considered was the amount of valuable intercooler space that was going to eat up. After several hrs of cutting/checking/cutting and checking, I'm sort of stuck. Have the radiator and intercooler in the approximate place they're going to sit. I'm probably going to have to get rid of my tubular bumper support though.

If you have Ray slant the I/c tanks from thin on top top wide at the bottom, you should have clearance, looks good though. I like your radiator hold down. If you need more clearance you can always cut you bumper support in half, lengthways, then weld flat stock back in for support.

For those of you that are following the progress on this car, I have an update. A lot of you guys knew I had planned on waiting till spring of 09 to get the car painted. Well, Charlie, (91boost) made me an offer that I couldn't refuse. I get to have it painted now and help out wherever I can. He and Jimmy came to get the car last Saturday night. I stopped out at his place last night to give a hand. I was treating the surface rust with a product like POR15 (rust bullet) while he took off the fenders. I pulled the door panels and removed the mirrors and we changed the door pins and he removed the locks from one of the doors. There's a whole lot of tedious work that I hadn't even considered on a complete color change!

Going back tonight to apply the second coat of the rust bullet and fix a few small spots on or around the core support that are driving me crazy. Pictures will be up tomorrow.

Well, Charlie has been hard at it. I guess where the hood had come up on the previous owner, it buggered up the roof pretty good. He said he spent a whole night making it right. The body work is coming along nicely. He cut out a bad section of my passenger rear quarter that was in pretty bad shape. It only looked like a rust bubble under the paint, but apparently it had been worked on before. Forgot to snap a pre picture, but, since we had a spare fender, he borrowed a piece from it.

I worked on scuffing the door jabs last night and grinding down a few sharp spots here and there. We got the car on jack stands to we can chassis saver under the car where all the welding and fabrication work was done. I really like that you can pick up one whole side of the car now, with the cage / subframes / and Kenny brown matrix braces.

Got some more pictures tonight, the passenger quarter is fixed, he trimmed out the wheel wells so they don't need rolled anymore. Cowl is fixed and he put an epoxy primer under the hood (black) and a filler primer on top of that. I even tried my hand at laying down the gray primer. It's really cool seeing the progress. At least something went well this evening.

Well Rob, its supposed to be a metallic blue that comes on an infinity. The Dupont paint looked a little different on the hood when we did a test patch, but its supposed to look like this.

Charlie said he's painting it this weekend. I've been going out after work whenever I don't have my daughter and doing whatever he lets me do, but he's damn near knocked it all out. I'm going out tomorrow evening, but I don't think there's going to be anything left for me. I had hoped to have the cage painted before the car was painted, but I'd rather have the car painted and worry about the cage later. Its all taped up anyway.

The paint was actually Athens blue, when it was sprayed it had a purple hue and I couldn't take it. We ended up adding more of the blue from the paint code and now I absolutely love it! Should be some good pictures in the coming days!

Brian and I rolled out to Charlies tonight, we installed the doors and the decklid. I took lots of pictures from varying angles. with and without flash to show the different lighting on the paint. Overall, I think its going to be pretty sharp. It will be coming home in a few days so I can start doing the brake lines.

This week, I'm going to paint the cage and square the rearend. I'm going to polish the welds and put them on. Taking the fuel cell out to my buddies place so he can make a mount inside for the eliminator fuel pump. I think after that I need to get the brake lines in and install the linelock and start figuring out the wiring. Engine won't go in for a few more weeks. Still need to get a converter and have the hotside of the kit coated too, so it'll be awhile. I'll be plugging away at it though.

Engine management is a Gen7 DFI

Got some bad news the other day guys. Work is making some major cut backs and there's a chance I'm getting laid off in March.
