Been picking up a few parts here and there.

Had to have this switch and am still waiting on some firewall pass throughs and distribution blocks to show up for the electronics.
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o238/Rick88coupe/coupe%20pictures/P1000040-1.jpg

Got these plug wires in today. I'm sending them back for an exchange because the guy at quality control was asleep, but they are really nice.

Distribution to the rails

Waterpump to -16
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o238/Rick88coupe/coupe%20pictures/P1000043-1.jpg

Coil is going in the car, so I need one of these.
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o238/Rick88coupe/coupe%20pictures/P1000044-1.jpg

And lastly for tonight, I got a wild hair and painted one of my 98 GT rims satin black to see what it would look like. I'm debating on having them powder coated and running them as my street wheels for a while. Any thoughts? Yes I know they need centercaps, they're painted, but my studs are too long to put them on right now.

Still missing a few fittings to the fuel system and to switch the tranny over to AN lines. Home computer is down, so I'll update pics asap.

Got everything measured today so I could order a custom driveshaft. Ran into a bunch of brake problems but got it worked out. I dropped the rotors off to a buddy to have them blasted so I can paint the hats and get them put back on. Brakes should be finished tomorrow evening, I'm hoping to get them bled before the nights out.

Did a pseudo alignment on the car and I'm definitely going to need a bump steer kit.

Also dropped the compressor side of my turbo off to Jason to have him weld a V-band flange to the inlet, so I can run a pipe into the fender and put a fitting in it for the meth injection.

Anyone know where I can get some tires mounted and balanced on Sun?

Kwik92GT
02-19-2011, 10:44 PM
What was wrong with the brakes bro? You get a new set of wheels/tires?

Rick93coupe
02-19-2011, 10:47 PM
The flange on the new braided lines was too thick to use a factory banjo bolt and there isn't a big assortment of banjo bolts outside of factory specs, so I had Mikey P. open them up to a 7/16" which comes in 1" length. So then he had to tap the calipers to the new bolt size. Yeah I got some new front wheels, trying to see if I can stick a 12" wheel on the rear so I'm measuring that now.

Kwik92GT
02-19-2011, 10:57 PM
12" should be doable since you did the minitub, might need some offset lowers though.

I think his big concern is how they fit the body, when I spoke to him earlier, he made it sound like the car was skateboarded, but I dont think they look bad. They may look better if they were in the fender a little bit, but not much. I would put this problem on the back burner, it doesn't look like a big deal. I like the wheels too, I think they look good.

Derale electric fan came in today, got it mounted and I hope it's enough. It's only 2100 cfm but with the size of this radiator and placement I didn't have much room to play with. If this won't cool it, I'll have to come up with some sort of shroud. We'll see, one thing I have going for me is the radiator is a double pass.

Thanks Mike! I'm still up in the air on what I'm going to do, either have the front A arms cut down or use these fully adjustable units I have on the shelf. I'm injecting the meth pre and post turbo. One nozzle in the inlet of the turbo and 3 in the upper intake. I talked to them about pre turbo and they're assuring me its going to be a non issue with my setup, many guys have been doing it for yrs trouble free.

Last night we figured out the best place to put the fuel pump, based on the tranny cooler being back there too. I had to do some running today to get some materials. The end result is this fuel pump bracket. I had some rubber isolators that I put in place to quiet the pump down a tad.

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o238/Rick88coupe/1299462166.jpg

Pulled it apart and painted black. I'll mount it tomorrow and put the pics up.

Also worked on placing the shifter in the area the ashtray used to be. To get it centered in there I had to hang it off the tunnel a bit and make some spacers for it to sit on.

Thanks Rick its good to be back in touch with you guys, you asked opinions on your front tires, I have to say ...imo..i think they should tuck in more. my reasoning is if you ever want to ( put it in the weeds...lol) adjust ride height i think you will run into a issue of rubbing...imo...Greg and i use to talk about how the....evil twins(i hope you know those mustangs) front tires use to tuck in. later Mike

Rick93coupe
03-13-2011, 10:11 PM
Yeah I'm fixing that issue. It didn't used to sit like that with the old wheels on the front, the new wheels are built outward to clear big brakes. To be honest I don't really care for the wheels now that they're on. What I'd rather have is a set of 18" wheels that look kickass but I'd never be able to hook on a tire like that, so I guess it is what it is. I see 2 sets of wheels in my future.

Sorry James, just realized I never responded to ya. That is a pretty cool way to do it. I'm thinking mine will be remote mounted somewhere, just haven't figured out where yet but it won't be long.

On a different note, Greg dropped by today to test fit some big ole wheels on my car. They're a 15x12 with 325 Mickeys and I'm jealous as hell. They'd just about fit on my car if the rearend was narrowed just a bit more.

How much is your rear end narrowed and what was the bs on those wheels?

Rick93coupe
04-12-2011, 10:34 PM
Mine is only narrowed 3/4" per side. I think Greg said they're 7.5" bs. Ideally I think 1-1/4" to 1.5" would be right with this setup.

draggin50
04-12-2011, 10:49 PM
Ok thanks! Im having my rear end narrowed about 3 inches per side and I Id like to run 12 inch wide wheels if I cant use the 15x10's that I currently have. They are 3.5 bs so I doubt they'll work... Again thanks for the info!

What's the issue? They appear to fit great?!? My rear tires stick out even more than that and it's going to work.

Rick93coupe
04-13-2011, 09:26 AM
It comes down to ride height and tucking the tire. Theres plenty of room, just need a different backspace wheel to tuck it. Racestar didnt have a 12" wheel with an offset to work with my rearend, so I ended up with 10's.

No John, I didn't get anything else from them, it was all I needed at the time. If I had more foresight, I would have had Charlie close all that up during body work but it was the furthest thing from my mind. It's all good though, someone can hopefully learn from the mistakes I've made along the way.

So I started figuring out where the DFI harness was going to go yesterday, Brian stopped out and helped me figure out a relay situation I was fuzzy on. I had to modify a few things and tonight I used a tool called a Green Lee Punch to make 2 holes for the DFI harness to pass through. It's one of the slickest tools I've used and makes perfect holes! I put the harness in place and just need a couple of grommets for a permanent install. :bigthumb

Heya Rich, nothing much to talk about. I've been working 6 day work weeks, mostly 12+ hrs for the last 4 mnths but it's coming to an end. October we go back to 5 days and mostly 8 hr days, so I'll be back on it real soon. Going to BG for a break and some much needed motivation!

That's a bad idea unless you pay them off every month and just using it as a way to build credit.

Yep, made that mistake once. Had loans and credit cards to pay for all the parts. Lesson learned the hard way.

Rick, I disagree with the 'average Joe' part. Average Joe's do not build 1,000 RWHP, dual fuel, DFI cars! :D:lol:

Got to tinker with the car a little bit today. Had a couple of guys stop by to lend a hand. We got the battery shutoff installed and some trunk interior figured out.

I did get a little bit done and bought a few more little cool pieces.

Well, the OT at work has slowed down for the time being so I had some time today to go out and dig around in the wiring and start mapping a few things out. Also got some new electronics in the mail that's going to ease the integration between the painless kit and the DFI.
I never realized how in depth this was going to be, so I'm learning as I go. After going through the DFI software over the last couple of days I'm starting to see how many different options I have for activating this or that, what needs to be wired into the chassis harness and what needs tied into the EFI.

Spent the day in the garage again! Did a lot of work on wiring, my friend Scott stopped out and straightened me out on some wiring questions I had. We figured out all the new electronics and layed out a plan. Next step is the rear bulkhead. I just ordered it from Wolfe and it should be here in a few days. I need to build a rear seat delete and needed the rear quarter plastics in place so I knew what dimensions I needed to build it to. Zimmers stopped out for a bit and cut my quarter plastics to fit. You would think he does custom work in his spare time or something. :D

I'll be building the rear seat delete tomorrow, wish me luck it's going to be my first attempt at something like that.

Jason's handy work!

I had a great day in the garage. Fuel cell had to modified again and I just got it back in the car. Needed to have a -10 return placed and it now has a -12 and a -10 feed in the sump.

Rear firewall came in, the cardboard box it was shipped in was perfect to use as a template to cut around the mini tubs. These pieces don't come cut for mini tubs for some reason, you would think that would be an option.

I have the base for the rear seat delete made and just need to do some final trimming on it, to make a snug fit when it's carpeted.

Tomorrow should be another productive day!

It took a little longer than I expected to trim up the rear seat delete and make it fit exactly how I wanted it. Fits really good and now it needs carpet. This is going to be the base for a lot of my electronics to be mounted to. It sits flush with the pockets in the rear of the quarter plastics.

Made good progress over the last 2 days. Got the starter re-clocked and mounted. Had a 3G alternator rebuilt and mounted it. Put the front end back on the car, all lights blinkers, flashers, wipers and horn work. Ran one of my transmission lines to the back of the car where the cooler is but couldn't finish because I'm going to need about 10 more feet of -8 prolite hose for the return. Picked up all the additional wire I'm going to need for the electronics and the carpet for the back seat area.

More pictures in the coming days.

Made some good progress on the car over the last couple of days.

I cut out the inner fender for the turbo feed and got it mounted up.

Installed the plug wires but still need to separate them.

Figured out and finished up the cooling system, just need 2 fittings to arrive tomorrow.

To fill the engine at this location.

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o238/Rick88coupe/1345732241.jpg

Mapped out the return line for the fuel system

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o238/Rick88coupe/1345782825.jpg

I had to modify my transmission fan mounts to make room for the fuel feed but was able to secure the fuel line a little better.

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o238/Rick88coupe/1345782778.jpg

Assuming I get off work at a decent hr tomorrow and my handful of fittings arrive, I should have all the lines for fluids plumbed before I call it a night. Woot!

Thanks to Greg Kwik92GT for coming over and helping & motivating me to do something with it!

Ok, finished up the transmission lines and started messing with some wiring.

Did some reading on these connectors and decided to see if I was going to be able to assemble them myself. Much easier than I expected. I did a quick assembly and checked for continuity and it's a go.
