Bought an 88 LX 5.0 today (pics)

yup...went to look at one today and bought it...he is delivering is wednesday....

we got 7 months till i turn 16 so by then we will have it running tip top, the new top put on and hopefully have it painted....

here are some details...

1988 Ford Mustang LX
5.0 302
auto...(brand new)
91,xxx miles...never rolled over..
we will be the 3rd owner

with the car the owner gave us a brand new top for it...

4th...i love the car...when were done with it...it will look pretty nice...

yeah...looks good from a distance dont it :shock:

then we get a to a couple of ruff spots...

then we get to the rear...and thats where it starts getting bad...

other then that the car is in good shape... the car is being delivered to us becasue it needs a few things cleared up...it has had the same gas in the tank since 2001 so when you start it...its runs ruff...dont smoke at all or anything like that...

this weekend we will hopefully tear into it and pull the tank..drain it see if it runs better then do plugs and wires and so on till its running right...

i thought i would not end up with a 5.0 till well after i was 18... well i got one...it may look like a heap to you...but its gold in my eyes :nice:

sounds great :bigthumb didnt get the tipes put on...there were out of 2.5...he didnt want 2 inch or 3 inch..so we will get that done antother time

we paid $1,500 for my dads and it was worse then my 88


$1,600 deliverd is what i payed..but it just had a brand new transmission put in with less then 2,000 miles and a brand new black top came with the car for 1,600

no got to get it running right...it dont want to stay running but it sat since 2001 so i will spend the weekend draining the tank and doing plugs and wires ect trying to get it running right..

most likly this car wont get driven for a couple of months...

yup thats whay i plan...factory repaint, although im getting rid of the rack on the back..may replace it with a spoiler like the 93 limited ones had..i have one in my shead..and id like to get some ponies for it..i think chrome ponys would look pretty slick..

first i got to get it running right.

quick question..how loud should a 100% stock 5.0 be? with mine the only thing you can hear is the engine not the exhaust. i mean its so quite..and just seems like maybe a mouse or something has built a nest in the pipes/mufflers? would this cause a ruff idle?

Yeah they are quite as hell they have 4 cats on them plus the mufflers.

It could i geuss, It's probably the old gas, plugs wires and cap,rotor.

Tune it up run some injector cleaner through it and see what happens.
