FUCK im about to ask for a raise at work due to rising gas prices.

Nothing we can do about the gas prices, so I just keep my mouth shut. I'm just glad I have a car that gets good gas mileage (Grand Am). I have not driven the Excursion in over a month!

Well my Cherokee gets 16mpg, my coupe gets about 15mpg, so it really doesn't matter what i drive as far as those two go. My Bronco II on the other hand i haven't really monitored the mileage because i can't top off the tank without it leaking, so i have to put $15 in it pretty much every 2 days.

I drove the mustang around last night since it was nice out, and man I hear where you are coming from. I'm used to my daily driver, which is a 4 banger w/ a 6 speed :D

the more you get mad about the price of gas, the higher it seems to go.

Yup $45 worth of gas in the stang this morning. I am definitely getting a radiator for my 95 Neon this week. I miss the 37 MPG.

Having a mustang as a DD is awesome but not when it comes to filling up at the gas station. Mine takes the high octaine but i love driving it everyday

Drive what ever you want to drive . I know gas is expensive but it is worth it to drive what you enjoy. Should we all go out and buy tin cans on wheels with a hamster under the hood just because gas is expensive? No. Besides, all those small cars compact to smaller than my head in a hard crash. That means dead.
I feel your pain. My E-250 work van gets 8 miles to the gallon, and burns through 1.75 gallons per hour while I am cleaning. But it runs so well, plenty of power, air conditioning, great hot water, nothing like a 5.4.

Amen Keith.

Do I like filling up the Avalanche? HELL NO! Do I like filling up my F250? HELL NO! But I just pump in the fuel when it's needed....

But I am doing my part in pooling trips together, avoiding excessive idling, and keeping up with proper MAINTENANCE and tire inflations. It sure hurt stepping into the parts store this last time for a trans filter, 3 qts of dextron, 6 qts of mobil 1, serp belt, belt tensioner, and oil filter. But it's all in the name of mileage and preventing breakdowns later on....

Filled my car up Friday Night and got a whopping 164 miles out of the tank come Sunday night when I filled it up again($84.00 for both fill ups of high octane)...but it was fun while it lasted!!!

If you choose to drive a car that gets lousy fuel economy, that's your choice but don't bitch about it then. Yeah, it sucks paying $60.00 every 300 miles, but that's the tradeoff for 370hp. :D

That being said, I'm starting to think a Passat or Jetta TDi is starting to look rather tempting as a daily driver. 40+mpg sounds really good.

$60 every 300 miles? Psh, try $50 everytime u get in my car. doesnt matter how far or how close u go, its $50 a half a day to drive it. THE END.

No but I want the wife to start driving it to work instead of her gas guzzling Grand Cherokee. I sure can't wait until the lease is up on that thing.

I get somewhere between 6 and 22 mpg in the Cobra depending on highway or track mileage. :D I'd say it averages 15 mpg or so with just cruising around town.

My old inline-6 Grand Cherokee was getting 12-14 mpg this past winter.....14-16 last fall with 70/30 city/highway.

My 4 cylinder Wrangler will probably get about the same mileage as the GC....thing has NO power for the hills around here and the aerodynamics of a brick, but DAMN is it fun to drive. :D

I don't know what kind of mileage the wife gets out of her V-6 Equinox, but I know it's a hell of a lot better than either of my cars. :(

Damn dude if you are getting that horrible of gas mileage you should look at getting a tune put on that car, or you have some other problem that needs fixed.

gas hog Trans Am sits, my new to me 4 door Civic is getting 38 mpg 70/30 highway/city. Putting about $25 in every other day, 300-320 miles.

ANyone have the specs on a 85-86 SVO? What kind of mileage did they get? How about the newer V6 'stangs? Unboosted of course :)

I tried an svo as a daily driver. I could not keep my foot out of the boost. It got mid to high teens on good days.

I'd love to build something like Kev's red car.

Take a 4 cyl car, dorp in a TC motor and tranny, then tweak from there.

Even thought about using a AOD with a 3.73 or 4.11 rear gear.

I ride the bike whenever I can to and from work, not in the rain though. 3.5 gallons fills it up and I can go back and forth all week. The GTI gets over 30, so its not too bad either, its just hard to keep your foot out of it, even the small amount of boost it makes, makes the car fun.

When the gas prices are nuts like this I like my 35-40mpg honda. When I really feel it is when I fill up the Excursion you really get sticker shock if it is low. It holds 45 Gallons.

Probably due to the shortage of corn, being used for methenol! ;)

Mista Bone

sorry, but you make ethanol out of corn :)

I stopped for gas tonight, 3.059 a gallon, got $30 worth. Across the street it was a mob with gas at 2.999, like a 30 minute wait! People sitting there with their AC on. The extra .60 I spent on gas, I saved on my purchase, 2.99 vs. 3.69 for 6x16 beast ice.

That .2 gallons less I got would have gotten me 6-8 miles on the highway, people wasted that just sitting there with AC cranked........talking on the cell phone.

BTW, gas was cheaper in KY again, but some stations were jumping back to 3.199 for 87.

Sheepepole. I just fill the tank no matter what the price is. Worrying about which station is lowest isn't worth a buck to me.

my supercoupe gets good MPG if you keep your foot out of it...mid 20's in the city....upper 20's on the highway..only downside..is i have to run premium in it...or else...hello blown motor..

dad's 86 gets around 16-18 city around 20 on the highway.

Exactly. While I do tend to fill up at stations that are consistently lower than others (the Shell on Mason-Montgomery at Field Ertel, for example) if I happen to be in the area, I don't bother with driving around trying to find the best deal, and I'm sure as hell not going to wait in line to save $.50.

Back when gas was $2.099 a gallon, wholesale prices were at 1.50-1.55, add in the .48-.50 in taxes, so about .05-.10 profit for the station owner (if that!)

Watching TV yesterday gas was 2.29-2.31 a gallon wholesale, but 3.29 at the pump. Whose getting the extra .40 per gallon in profits?

The oil companys.

Why do they get 10 billion dollars a year in subsidies when they (Exxon) in making 10 billion a QUARTER in profits?

Oh yeah, last year when the gas was high, oil was like $75-80 a barrel, it was $62-63 yesterday.......bigger profit margins.

But the oil companys KNOW that the SUV owner won't slow down, 80 mph in a 55 mph zone.

I predict 3.499 a gallon for 87 will be the breaking point this summer, 3.999 next summer.

I boycotted Ohio gas yesterday, filled up in KY for 2.959 a gallon :)

They were 3.149 today, Speedway at KY17 @ Highland Pike

I am just waiting on the Ohio economy to go to hell. Until then, the ohio senators will not do a thing. Remember to all that Congress and Democrates control the economy with free trade and company union control.

My DD is a 96 Tahoe, 14 MPG, $70 to fill it up...My 07 stang gets 18-19 MPG, 93 T/A with 375 RWHP get about 19 MPG, got to love an M6. If I drive the T/A hard it will get 10 MPG.
