starter keeps hanging up

the starter in my 95 stays engaged after i let off the key even when i turn it all the way off it just keeps crankning the engine i tried shimming it but that didnt work could it be the starter itself or something else causing this

Sounds like the solenoid is sticking or something. That's a 10 dollar part, wouldn't hurt to replace it and see.

i just replaced the whole thing it finally broke the arm inside of it so it working now but thanks guys
