At least I think. The coolant light came on on the drive home yesterday. As I was waxing the car I noticed a stream of coolant flowing to the front of the garage.
The coolant is coming fro the crossover/waterneck area.
I am hoping it's just a leak from the gasket at the waterneck. BUt I guess i have to pull it off to find out.

You might get with Drivermod (Ian). He repaired the intake on his 97 when it cracked. He knows alot about them.

You can pretty much bet on it being cracked. Fixing it will work as a short term solution but it will crack again.

time for a PI intake swap. The crossover gasket might be leaking but like Ken said its probally screwed. Get the PI intake of MD or MF and a set of PI gaskets and a little RTV. Did it to mine over the winter and no leaks yet. Many have done it with no problem.

Kyle

You have a PM.

I am about to pull it off to see if it's cracked or just leaking at the waterneck.

well i am pretty sure it's cracked. need to pull it off completely to tell for sure. but it's definatly not a waterneck problem.

Mine cracked last week right before I left for vacation! I just stopped down MD today and picked up my PI intake with the Alum. crossover today. I can tell you one thing for sure....You can't beat their price for a new piece.

HPS makes adapter plates. I am just curious if they will cause any clearance issues. I definatly want to go the adapter plate route aswell.

there is a clearance issue im not positive but i believe the one i got they shaved some off the top where the plenum goes

yeah that's with the Livernois Kit but I believe their plates are substantially thicker than HPS. I have an e-mail to HPS to find out.

you really don't need the plates. most people get them just because they over worry about a leak. when you take your intake off lay a set of PI gaskets ontop of the heads and look at the difference. where you RTV there really isn't that much of a mismatch. If I remember I'll take some pics of some PI gaskets on my old NPI heads to show you the difference.

HPS says that their plates are only a 1/4" thick and cause no clearance issues. So i am just going to go ahead and get a set. Especially sincei got a good deal on a PI intake thanks to Kyle!

Plastic crossover intakes suck. It was nice when they still had the recall. I changed 4 of them in one week for family members at a pretty decent profit because ford was paying. Don't forget to check that you have the correct nipple and tube, some cars do some don't.

98s have the correct nipple on them. Most 96 and 97s have to be swapped out along with the tube for the PI change

Correct.

Hopefully I will get to this around the 1st of the month. I am in the process of moving so that takes some priority.

But So far we are going with the PI intake using adapter plates since HPS says they are only 1/4" thick and don't cuase any clearance issues.
Going to throw new spark plugs in. Also going to do the 2v cooing mod and put some new O rings on the injectors.
Then we should be good to go

Its really for the higher horsepower motors that make more heat in the number 8 cylinder in the back but some people do it since they have the chance or get paranoid about it.
