Question about compression

Got the clutch and everything off the car and you can turn the motor over quite easy by the flywheel. When the car came apart it ran great. Now its suppose to be a rebuilt 306 with a stock came but it does have 1.7 rockers. Do you think it is possiable the valve springs are getting weak and this is causing my low compression problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

If you are using a flywheel wrench the engine would turn over relatively easily. If you have the plugs out it would spin easier yet.
