Looks good. What caused the damage to the head? Drop a valve?

91lxnos
06-12-2007, 10:32 AM
The damage was caused by the cam pin shering and the valves went out of time and I lost an intake valve and it punched a hole in the piston and the valve seat and valve ran amock in the combustion chmber. But all is well now:cool1: The second repair (less damage) was caused by the seat coming out in that cylender at the same time......The cam will have 2 pins in it this time!!!!!

Smart man!! I've learned that in every build there comes a point where you just pretty much say f*** it and wanna quit. Usually if you put it to the side for a little while think things over and get some buddies to come help it will come together. The other thing I've learned that when taking it to the track for the first 10-20 passes or so always seems to be frustrating working out the new car blues. Hang in there sounds like it is almost over.

08-30-2007, 08:28 AM
I tried to fire her up last nite but I am having issues with the fuel pump (mechanical) I dont know if I need to "prime" it or what it is not pumping fuel! I have it running thru -8 line from a pick-up in the tank. I can feel the pump pushing air out the exit on the pump with the feed line off but no fuel. The battery is low and the motor isn't cranking super fast but enough to try and start when I pour gas in the carb....... any suggestions??????

mustangboy
08-30-2007, 01:00 PM
Try putting fuel in the gas tank.;) I'm sorry I couldn't help myself. I'm going to guess that you really need to get that thing spinning good to get the fuel all the way to the front, especially the first time. So I guess give the battery a good charge and try it again. I guess if you wanna go all out you could remove the spark plugs so it cranks real easy and let it spin till it pumps fuel to the front.

NXcoupe
08-30-2007, 09:42 PM
What kind of pump are you running?

91lxnos
09-03-2007, 09:24 AM
Running a Holly Mech race pump. I hooked the holly Blue in line and primed the line I can leave it running and have fuel but as soon as I shut it off the car shuts down. I am thinking the Mech. pump is def>. Gonna take it off and inspect it and prob. send it back for a replacement. Meanwile I can run the car all motor on the Blue pump to break it in and set timing and such, but no spray yet BUT SOON!!!!!!!

That would be my guess is the pump has taken a dump. Probably some crap from the lines got into the check valves inside and won't let it get a vacuum. Just a guess.

I just got it all back together and upgraded the fuel system to a Magna Fuel300 pump and changed some jetting. We (chad393, and Quartermilerocket) took it up to Jeff at Precision Autosports in Bevercreek and he laid down a safe strong tune! Car wants to move out!!!! We will try it out on Thurs at Kilkare to see what we get. also got a new set of welds and 28x10.5 slicks to throw on and see what it will do before BG on Sat in wild street so stay tuned..
