FYI in case anyone is going to Indianapolis on Sunday July 1st for UMTR race...

Just spoke to a very nice lady at ORP. She said Sunday July 1st racing - hold onto your hats - gates open at 7AM, time trials at 9AM. That's REALLY early, I'm tired already! They try to start eliminations at 1:00, just depends on how many cars to get thru qualifying. She had no gate fee info for UMTR (although she knew we were coming) I'm not going to assume it is still $20 and $50, but I hope it is. One track we went to last year SS was $25.

Guess I'll be packing breakfast instead of lunch!! Hope to see everyone there!

I'm going, despite my better judgement....
It's a really nice track... plenty of shut down room and
it's smooth.... hate to see some of you throwin' in the
towel for this one....

I wonder how many time runs we will get.....

Quote from umtr site re: Indy

Kinda off beat here, but I will not be at Indy due to my aweful wife taking me to the 4 day NHRA race in Norwalk and staying in some nice cabin on the lake. Man I had a bad fathers day. lol So good luck everyone. I am so far out of points already that missing this race will put the grass seed on the the grave. But I will have something much better for everyone next year. Be safe, and have fun! Did I mention? 2 rows back about 50 feet from the starting line.

:HYF: duh! You have known this for 6mos. I've known since Sunday night.

Of course April and I will be making the treck. I expect the Cold Spring caravan to leave around 5am w/ a breakfast stop along the way. Daylight racing will be a change for us. April should be able to get some great pics in the daylight.

Besides, we need all the points we can get. We're greedy like that.

Where are we meeting up? Trucks and trailers don't negotiate Perkins very well!

Maybe Casa De Waffle at the bottom of the AA in Wilder? I'm just about due for a helping of "why I don't eat at Waffle House"...lol

I'll pass on the Waffles! You're a brave man to eat there and then drive a couple of hours. Maybe we could meet ya' there when you're done eatin' or just catch you on the road!

From Karl on UMTR's site...
Bruce at IRP has confirmed what Cathy has told everyone. He also said to use the main gate off of Crawfordsville Road. Thats the electronic sign that's across from Litton Trailer Sales and the Drive In. The phone number for IRP is 1-317-291-4090. Jody will probably be the one answering the phone.
(Jody is the one I originally spoke to.)

Mapquest directions in a nut shell..

I-74W for 97 miles
I-465/I-74W via exit 94 20.6 miles
Merge on to Crawfordsville Rd. via exit 16A
Turn Right on to Crawfordsville Rd. / US-136 W, follow US-136W 4 miles
End at 10267 E US Hwy 136

Never been there, I heard someone named "Harp" from UMTR has recent directions, will post if I get them and they are different.

Hope to see many of you there. Let's Race! :bigthumb

Rule of thumb on the Awful Waffle: Only consume after 2 am and only after your stomach is well prepped with alchohol.

Im going to try and hitch a ride up with someone.

any phone numbers to add just in case? if anyone wants the current list, i can i.m. it to you.

ORP says they will sell spectator passes for $8, but that ONLY gets you in the stands. For $10 you can get a crew member pass with a wrist band that will get you full access, all the way up to the starting line on the track... which is a restricted area.

Open parking in the pits, NO ALCOHOL!

The party will be at our trailer, because it will be someone's birthday...

Kathy, you can add mine too 859-322-4768... also, can you send me the current list? Thanks

Curt filled me in on how things went up there yesterday. I put in a brand new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing etc.. saturday morning, drove around for an hour or so breaking it in etc before loading up for Indy. Things felt great until I pulled on Dry Fork Rds on ramp....as I mashed a couple gears....guess what...."BROKEN CLUTCH DISK!!!!!!!!!!"...don't make any sense, the last one lasted a couple hundred street miles & 14 passes on sticky tires until breaking. Sorry I missed everyone!
