rear sway bar

what exactly is the function of the rear sway bar? affect traction or hurt anything else if left off? better if off? car is mainly a ¼mile car if that means anything?

It will help plant both tires better than leaving it off.

ok two more questions... does the clips go on the inside or outside of the lca and does the bar start out down or up when coming out from the lca? I thought down but wanna double ck.
