View Full Version : Anything special I need to keep off an explorer motor??

picking up an explorer motor for $75 and the guy said it had a hole in the oil pan, so i believe what he is tryin to say is the bottom end is junk... anything special I need to save off the block besides the heads and intake which I know I need?? thanks

Pull it apart and see what caused the hole before pitching the rest.

supposedly it is an externally punctured hole... :dunno:

the dogbones are plastic on those??? whats so special about them??


Now the latest news... the guy who has the motor will just Give it to me if i do some bodywork on his '88 GT, the cowl is pushed in from a hood that wasnt quite latched, should be no problem, ive fixed them before... so hopefully free is good!!

You don't have to run the dogbones or spider with the plastic peices, lmk

Yeah, you'll see when you pull the intake, They're 4 sets of retainers that hold two each.
