Call your bank tomorrow. Make sure it's a done deal and clears before he gets the car.

Why not have him send you a certified check in the mail straight to your bank from his. I am sure the banks could do this for you or just tell your bank what you want to do and see what they say. Banks deal with millions every day. I am sure they have a safe way to transfer money.

I don't think it clears right away. You don't want it to bounce then its on you.

Wouldn't that mean he'd have to have your routing and account number? That doesn't seem very safe. Why's he worried about taking cash?

Pretty sure that would work. Chase is a little goofy though, so he should probably call to make sure.

There is one in eastgate, in front of Meijer. Tell him to withdraw cash at that location.

Just make sure he calls them to find out if it's ok to withdraw that kind of money there. I have all kinds of issues with my chase account out here in AZ cause I opened it in Cincy. Something about them being in different zones or something.

Wiring money is perfectly safe. You're more likely to have issues with a cashier's check than with a wire transfer. There are a lot of fake cashier's check floating around out there.

If you write checks to people, your account and routing numbers are already floating around out there for anyone to see. Also, if you're paranoid about it, set up a second account for the purpose of receiving the transfer, then move the money into your primary account.

I'm with Gene. I've seen fake "certified" checks. I would definately go with the wire transfer but I would contact the bank first on all the details. Just make sure that when the transfer is done there is not a waiting period. If there is a waiting period I would not realease the title till then. Just be smart and you'll be fine. If the guy is legit he will totally understand you being a little paranoid.

:agree:

Never give your checking information to anybody. He has many options, Western Union, Paypal, check to you, etc. Don't give your info to ANYBODY!

Thats the way my in-laws handled it when they sold their RX7 to a guy in Seattle. Their bank contacted his bank and they handled everything.

Just an FYI, money orders and cashiers checks can still have a stop order put on them, they are not cash until they have been cashed by a bank.

a little high, but fuel costs have went up since the Del Sol was shipped from Washington State to MI for $800.
