Tim, is this Tony's Mustang?? That is one sweet ride!

yes it is. It has gotten to the point where we are kind of scared to drive it due to its value and being so rare. He has my old 68 fastback and wants to redo it as a fun car since it is not very rare.

I agree. When I saw that Mach at your house awhile back, I just had to stop and drool! I am sure its worth the 40K. My uncle has a black 70 Mach 1, 428CJ, r-code. It was appraised around that range. We used to cruise with Tony and his wife. I think one time they had a green 67-68, but I forget if it was a coupe or fastback. Could that have been your old one?

No, the green 68 coupe was our first old car project. That one goes for sale next. It is a 289/auto car. We are still trying to figure out what the value is for it.

I looked on classic auto trader this morning and there were only 2 r code cars for sale in usa. Both were perfect show only resto's but they want $80k each for them.

I like that coupe. Looks great with the magnum 500's.
Wow, 80K!!

Honestly 40k may be a little low for that car. I know it would be a major pain but one of the big auctions could probably get you 50-60K for it. Good luck with the sale that has to be one of my favoritie Mustang body styles of all time.

The reason I feel $40K is about right is that some of the chrome is aftermarket. The undercarrage no longer has the factory type undercoating. We coated the entire underside with POR 15 to protect it. I have the original wheels but they need restored (styled steel with center cap and beauty ring). It has the orginal rim blow wooded steering wheel but it also needs restored. There are just several things that a pure collector will bitch about.

I rate this car as a mid #2 driver. This is about as cool as a ford gets with out stepping into boss or shelby territory.

I wish I know how to get it into one of those barrett-jackson type auctions. I saw the identical car except it was a perfect restoration go for $120k a month ago.

Reserve cost %6 of the price to the seller! September 8th auction columbus Ohio. They seem to have a nice selection of cars there. Might be worth trying. Set your Reserve to $40k and see what she brings.

Well, it seems to be working. I have had several emails and a couple phone calls wanting to see it. A couple even said cash in hand! I think I am going to show it to people at the high school to avoid someone seeing where we keep it.

That looks to be a reasonable price, good luck with the sale. By the way, the Barret- Jackson car that sold this year for 120k plus commission, was the last car I painted in my garage at home, (in 1987), berore I moved into our present facility in Blue Ash. Not bad for a 20 year old paint job. Paul, Pauls Automotive Engineering

If you take cash make sure you get a Money Pen to check it all or take it to the bank and have them check it. I looked around and all the 69 machs I found for sale in that price range were either Q code 428's or they were R codes with the wrong engine in them. I think you should get that price or more.

I would suggest calling Rick Parker at Signature Auto in Columbus, OH. 614-238-4000 He deals in Shelbys, Bosses and big block Machs like yours. Don't know if your car originally is red and a 4-spd car but it is a very disirable combination (they don't call it re-sale red for nothing!). I too think that you have under priced your car but I know that from pictures it is had to determine things.

Yes, it is original red and 4 speed. I expect it to be sold pretty quick. There is alot of interrest in it already.
