I have a low milage 86' short block. Using E7 heads. I have both 1.6 and 1.7 rockers. Also have a B cam if needed. I need to know how much lift I can go with, or would anyone know what combo I could use?

I don't believe you can go much more than stock on an 86 shortblock. Definitely measure pv clearance on any changes.

Sorry I'm not much help...

Thats cool. Any info is better than no info. I may just try for 1.7 rockers w/ a stock cam. I think lift stock is 444. Wonder what 1.7s will put me at?

A stock cam with 1.7 rockers works out to .472 lift

With the flat top pistons in the 86 block clearance is close. Ive heard of people running x cams (.54ish) and not hitting, but all it takes is one miseed shift to make Mr Piston meet Mr Valve.

So a stock cam, E7 heads w/1.7 roller rockes would pose no threat?

Ive got that combo on my 86 right now.Itll be fine. But if i had to do it all over again,i would mass air it before anything.

No matter what route you take, check PV clearance.

Alrady there. Its an 89' coupe. Just wanted to play around with afew combos. Kind of an educational experiment. Don't think I will race it much if at all. Just want a better than stock combo to run on the street. Thanks to eveyone for the input. And yes, I will check valve clearance.:bigthumb
