would you go with 295/40, 295/35

Probably 285 (dependant on the brand)
If Nittos I would go bigger other brands I would stick around 285.
I have 315s (Nittos) on mine and they bulge a little but work well.

think i'm gonna do the nittos and stagger em like the factory tire 285/30/20 on the rear and 255/35/20 on the front

sounds good. I have 245s on the front and they definatly could be a little wider.
