Do you have a flaming river steering shaft? If not time to get one

i looked at them, are they really that much thinner?the knuckle at the top is hitting and i could move the motor up or down an inch and it would still hit.i got the bbk 1 3/4 fox conversion headers.

I dont know about BBKs I have 1 3/4 hookers on my 351 block and I had to ding them a bit and weld up the flaming river shaft (it was hitting on the set screws) to make clearance. It all depends on your motor mounts/ motor plate, K-member, off set rack bushings. Just like every Mustang bolt on part you need a welder, a grinder, and a sawzall to make it fit right.

are solid motor mounts taller than the convertable ones?

Convertible motor mounts are about 3/8 to 1/2 TALLER than the HMP solid motor mounts. Rick Anderson told me this when I had convertible mm and needed to lower my motor. I bought the standard height HMP solids that are suposed to be the same height as stock.... and before the install I put string from the top of one strut to the other and took measurements before and after and the solids lowered my motor 3/8 of a inch. Hope this helps.

One thing you can try is to collapse the steering collum a bit to pull the upper joint back from the headers.Im thinking of doing it to mine sometime soon since the lock screws hit the down pipe since I wrapped it.

With a FR shaft you can do it, but not a stock(I think). PM Jeff88coupe on the details of how he did his.

i couldnt use the drop mounts cause i used a canton pan.i even put the off set rack bushings in to lower the rack just to get the motor were it is.even if i could use them the shaft still wouldnt clear.ive got the 1 3/4 there pretty thick.

I was looking at your alternator kit, the brace that goes from the waterpump to the top of the alternator.... it is a threaded rod right? I could possibly use something like that to use as a tensioner for when I change to an elect waterpump and manual steering. It could push the alt. out away from the crank to keep the belt tight.;)

Ouch, right in the knuckle.... looks like you need a lot of room, not just 1/4 of a inch here and there....

Tim, when you said every mod on a mustang requires a grinder and a welder, you left out the BFH and Duct tape! LOL

I was just getting ready to suggest unbolting the column and moving it, that's what I had to do this past weekend to get my bassani's to fit. Glad Kev came through for you.
I asked March if they made brackets for the p/s and they told me no. Have you got any part numbers?
