Hello All, I'm getting back into the game after a 12 year hiatus.. I just recently purchased an 85 LX convertible, It's a 3.8, Auto, But that just isn't going to cut it (lol) not looking to break the sound barrier, Just get it into the 12's...And keep it very streetable. So if anyone is so inclined to lead me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!! I'm disabled and on a fixed income so I don't have a never ending supply of cash, but I'm not in a great rush either.. I would like to stay with an automatic, and have been looking at building a 331 or 347, I have found these turnkey(but again the cash flow) but have done a little research on doing most of it myself. But have no clue where to start, as far as motor to start out with, I have found a few mid to late 80's H.O. motors, and don't know if this is needed or the best route? Sorry to be rambling on, But just looking for some guidance.. Thanks in Advance, Aaron :bigthumb

Keep in mind that the V6 K member is different and needs to be swapped in order to do a V8 swap...

I got a 1969 351 windsor block bored .030 comes with new rings and bearings pistons and rods and a cam.Needs cleaned up (honed) from sitting around and you can put a decent shortblock together.CHEAP $400 you come and get it.Put a decent set of 1965-66 289 heads on this and run mid 12's on motor.

I appreciate the input, Just wondering is there any difference in the windsor as far as setting in the car versus a 302 block? Like i said earlier it's been 13 years since I fooled with this stuff, so please bear with me if I ask a lot of questions!!

Sits a little higher than a 302

Since you are basically starting from scratch as far as the drivetrain goes, I would go with a 351W. The headers, oil pan, distributor, and intake are different from a 302, but who cares you have to buy all that stuff anyway. As Tmotorsports said, the 351 will sit a bit higher due to the increased deck height. As far as a transmission I would probably go with a C4, although an AOD can be made to live in an application like this without breaking the bank.

if that's the only difference then I would be interested in talking to you (Tmotorsports) about this engine.. I know it's going to take me a while to get this car up and going, but I need to get started.. you can eithe rgive me your # or feel free to call me @ (937) 206-2489. Thanks Again, Aaron
