5.4 F150

I have a 2000 5.4 F150. It has a K&N air filter and a flowmaster. The problem is when iI start it it will not idle. It starts up fine but when the RPMs drop after start up it just dies.
If I hold the gas with my foot it will say running. After about 1min. of doing this the RPMs will jump about 200 and the truck will run fine the rest of the day. The next morning it will happen agin. Any help would be great...I have no clue what this could be...:confused:

I have replaced a lot of idle control motors on our 5.4 vans doing the same thing you described.

Yup its more than likely the IAC.

sounds like the iac valve and possible the mass air meter needs to be clean on the truck

Thanks guys. This site has always been good to me when i needed help. It was the IAC. I didnt get a motorcraft one. Had to get the truck fixed asap. So ended getting one from Autozone. Fixed the problem and truck runs great. Might just be in my head but the truck seems to run alot better too. Once agin thanks.
