Well I drove the car to Victory Fabrication monday, we got started swapping out the S-trim for the drivers side ysi. I'm also adding a front mount intercooler and going blow through meter. The car should be back on the street by thurs, then I'm going to do a valve spring swap and get it back to Jeff @ Precision Autosports to make sure the tune is safe. The ysi will be slowed down, but it should still make alot more power than the S(which is still for sale by the way).

I'll try to post some pics once it's installed.

what block are you using in that thing?

ibstrokin
09-12-2007, 10:03 PM
It's a mexican block. It's made 637 rwhp on race gas and cogs (5 speed). My goal for this year is to make enough power to dip in the 9's, on pump gas and 8 rib belt. Next year I plan on having a boss block, then step up the power.

We hit a small snag today with blower clearance and an accesory bolt. Tomorrow the bracket will get milled about .150" and that should take care the clearance issue.

So now were probably looking @ Friday. Once we can actually mount the blower we'll get started on the tubing. The intercooler is already mounted(with help from 93hulk), and bolt issues have been mostly sorted out.

Ray @ Victory Fab (victoryfab.com) has been a huge help in getting this sorted out. This would take me forever to get mounted if it was at my house. He's been involved with efi renegade for years, so he is very well versed @ custom blower mounting. He has been the crew cheif for Bob Kurgan on numerous occasions.

My brother has been a big help also, he has a cnc mill @ his house,Greyhound precision.com. He modified a vortech spacer for me so that I can still use my comp eng. engine strut. He now has some very nice software for his mill that does awesome custom engraving in aluminum. He's tz250 on here, feel free to pm him with questions about custom parts or engraving.

Well I have good / bad news. Good news is, it picked up 100 hp on the ysi. Bad news, it pegged the inj.'s @ 5800 rpm. I'll still take it back to the track, but shifting off the rev limiter @ 5600 is gonna suck. So that's it for this year, I'm not going to swap inj.'s this year, but def. next. Hopefully it will still run well into the 10's short shifting.

I guess I can update this thread.

I have taken the engine out, disassembled it and taken the rotating assembly to Georges speed shop in Dayton, they are in the process of building the boss block. I got a set of ported tw's from banging gears (severely ported), they have been dropped off at Heads up cyl. heads to be checked, flowed and assembled, the heads came with a matching holley lower (severely ported). I also picked up a set of 83# inj.'s from Ray @ victory fab, and his epec computer. In the next couple of weeks I'll be picking up his Kooks 1-7/8 to 2" step headers, x-pipe, and 3.5" bullets.

I still need to purchase a cam, and I think I'm going to run 2 a1000 fuel pumps. I'm going to have my stock gas tank sumped (quick rev in Dayton).

Then the car will go back to Jeff @ Precision to get tuned. Hopefully I will have everything back together by spring.

I'll post pics of parts and progress

I thought I would do a little update. I haven't done shinola to the car, but, I have alot of new parts. I picked up my engine from Georges Speed Shop, 331 Boss block. I should pick up the heads next week. I acquired a lentech aod, which should help to keep the car steetable. I picked up a set of Kooks 1-7/8 to 2" step headers w/ bullet's.

I still need to work something out with a fuel pump, cam and pushrods.

I'll post some pics of progress in the next couple of weeks.

I got my cam in the mail today. I ordered it from Bullet cams, and they are great to deal with. They built me a one off grind, specific to my needs, and it arrived 6 days after I ordered it. It cost $309 to the door. You can't beat their service, price value. If this cam works like I think it will, these guys will do all my cams in the future.

UPDATE- I cut the 6 point mild steel cage out of it last night. This morning I ground out the stubs to the plates, big pain in the ass, pulled the gas tank, pulled the interior and dash out of it, and delivered it to Precision Autosports to have the new 10 point moly cage installed. Ray Mcintire(formerly of victory fab) is now working @ Precision. I hope to have some pics by next week.

I'm not sure if it will make it to the track this year, If it does, it will be later in the season.

I like the way the rear of the cage fits the car. The bottom of the rear seat fits perfect, the back will need to be trimmed a little. But the cage I had before didn't tie into the rear frame, this one does. The cage is fit so that the top still works, and is actually easy to use. Ray put in through the floor subframes, and tied them into the main hoop, and frame rails. The cage is made out of chromemoly, so it should only be a little heavier than the previous cage. But I took out the heater box and a few other item, So I think the car will actually be a little lighter than before. I have a complete black interior that I'll be putting back in it, so hopefully I'll have some more pics in the coming weeks.

Big thanks to Ray (Goes by victoryfab on here) for doing such a good and fast job.

Rick had to post some pics for me, photobucket wasn't working. The igloo core is out being repaired, and I have a Holley lower (for the igloo )on the way. The tranny is a lentech. The heads are Trick Flow and have extensive port work. The intake is a Holley, and has been ported through and welded back, and are a matched set with the heads.

The headers are Kook's 1-7/8" to 2" stepped, with 3.5" Bullets, should be loud, I may change that around to quite it down. The fuel rails are Behind Bars Race Cars.

Ray @ Precision did the cage, which is awesome, I have no problem trusting my life with his work. And the top still works like a champ. The car wasn't square at all, after the cage was installed, the doors close like a new one, so that tells me how much the cage is working just sitting still. The cage is Chrome moly also.

I have a complete black interior to go back in it. The injectors are 83's, and the Comp. system is a Ford Epic. I would like to step up to a Accel Gen 7, we'll see.

The engine is a Boss Block 331, which uses the same rotating assembly that was in my Mexican Block. It consists of an Eagle steel crank, H-beams with upgraded rod bolts, J.E. pistons, assembled by Georges Speed Shop.

Well I finally turned a few wrenches tonight. Mark came over and we swapped out my lower control arms. I switched from mega-bite jr.'s to a set of Team Z tubular/adjustable lowers. The Team Z lower's are actually 10 lbs. lighter (as a set) than the mega-bite's.

Hopefully I get my return tomorrow, Then I'll have a few new toys coming.

I got a set of underdrive pullies, a set of split fire's, and a tornado air difuser( supercharge any car), This thing is going to be BADASS!!!!!!!

Just Kidding, Craig hooked me up with a Great Deal on a new FAST XFI system, w/a Fast dual sync dizzy, harness's and sensors. This should make the tune much more accurate, and I won't have to deal with mass air meter placement. Plus I'll be able to datalog.

Thanks again Craig.

OK, just read through this whole thread again. Had forgotten how many parts you bought and have laying around to be put on/assembled. All BS aside, what's it going to take to get you wrenching on this again? I have limited time but I'm willing to wrench/help, whatever.

This is going to be a baaad bitch. :bigthumb

Desire, and I just don't have any right now. It doesn't seem to interest me like it used to. And honestly, the more people try to motivate me, the less desire I have to do anything to it. I think I just came to a point were it's just seems like a lot of money and time for little reward.

Hard to have any kind of "reward" though if its not running. :cool2:

That's cool though, won't mention it again.
