stuck in third

so i was on my way home from work when i shifted from 2nd to 3rd,it grinded into third and now wont come out i got a 84 gt 5.0 5spd what would cause this?

Broken shift fork

beat it out of third,use a jack handle over the shifter or some thing.its a 50/50 shot if it will work after that but its worth a try.my ole 86 did that to me once,i got it out of third and it was fine for another year or so!!:bigthumb

pressure plate or thorw out bearing not lettin it kick out of gear

sounds like he wedged it into third.all im saying is its worth a try

Try havin someone rock the car back and forth and you try in pop it out a gear.It should pop out.If it dont prepare to replace it,but dont even stick another T-5 in there.Go spend the money on a nice tremec,you will thank yourself later.

Be ready to fix it soon. mine did it and it exploded a few months later.
