I have a problem with my 04 explorer when i turn the car off to get out the radio used to stay on now it shuts off before you open the door. When you close the door the dome light stays on also and the door locks wil not work on the drivers door the key pad does not light up and the courtesy lamp is not working either.

Any ideas??

I have been throught it seems like maube a short in the door wiring, When you start the car up the door ajar light stays on till you drive a little ways then it will go off as does the dome light.

Thanks for any help in advance.

mabey your door switch is acting up or broken. It does not sense the door closed. Then times out after you drive for awhile. Take the switch out and swap it with another door switch and see what happends. Or connect the two wires together to bypass the swtich.

Sounds like the Door ajar switch is sticking. Spray some penetrating oil like PB blaster in the door latch most the times that frees it up.

So many fords have problems w/the switch sticking in the door. You could try cleaning and re-lube but best thing to do is replace it.

Try the lube but i would also check the GEM module.Fords tester can check that for you,the GEM is the Generic Electronic Module and it controls all that fun stuff.

I had Gem module problems on my ranger. It was common on certain models.

gem module sounds like it because of the radio going off before he even opens the door and the lights not timing out.
