Vehicle- 2004 Ford Focus SVT

Short story short: I over tightened one of the strut tower bolts and it broke in half. After like 2 hours because I suck, I finally removed the entire strut/spring assembly.

I do not have spring compressors handy at this moment bare that in mind.

Two questions regarding pictures below.

1. How do I remove the stud that is broke. Slamming it with a punch has proved ineffective.

2. In your expert :bigthumb opinion, does the intact but bent area look well.....bent? I understand it is bent, but I cant seem to figure out if it is bent out of spec.

yah looks like you should buy an upper strut bearing assembly and be done with it. how did you bend it? and your talking about the side with the bolt intact right? bending might weaken it?

I did exactly what you said.

I bought a new bearing mount assembly and took apart the strut to put the mount on.

It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Thanks Xowner and Kennebellecobra.
