After much discussion, deliberation and reading all of your comments we, The Committee, have decided that the following will be the rules for North and South for the 2008 Racing Season. Each Division will still have their own local sponsors and perhaps some different 'perks' but we wanted to stay united in our efforts to keep the Rules of racing the same in both divisions.

U.M.T.R. 2008
QuickStick Drag Race Series and StreetStick Rules

1) Manual transmissions only. Lencos permitted. Hand/Arm shifted lever(s)
only. No air shifters permitted. No clutch activated automatics or Brunos
permitted. A U.M.T.R. Official will place a colored sticker in the upper
right hand corner of the windshield after the car passes inspection. While in
the lanes prior to first round, any car without a sticker will not race.
2) All cars must leave the starting line with leg released clutch. Shifting
without a clutch (clutchless) is permitted.
3) All vehicles must pass Host Track Tech Inspection and U.M.T.R. Device
Inspection before any passes are made. No electronics are permitted in
either class. No Delay Boxes, Pedal Magnets, Air Release or Hydraulic
Clutch Line Lock Systems. Any device not meeting U.M.T.R. Tech
Regulations must be disarmed by the car owner and will be sealed by
U.M.T.R. staff before any passes will be permitted. The seal must remain on
the vehicle/device throughout the event. If any competitor is found to have
an illegal device after a U.M.T.R. seal is applied, the penalty will be
revocation of U.M.T.R. Membership, forfeiture of accumulated points and
the driver will be barred from participating in U.M.T.R. events for the
remainder of the season.
* Data acquisition, Rev Limiters and Wheel Line Locks are permitted *
4) Once eliminations start you must drive the same car in all rounds.
5) All cars competing in U.M.T.R. events must comply with 2008 N.H.R.A. /
I.H.R.A. safety requirements. Participating host tracks may require engine
diapers.
6) QuickStick class: 0-12.99 E/.T.
StreetStick class: any E.T.
7) All participating tracks have strict provisions prohibiting use of alcohol
and/or illegal substances by any driver in competition. Any driver violating
these rules will be pulled from further competition.
8) Participants will run on personal dial-in. Dial in may be changed between
rounds. Driver/Crew is responsible to check the dial in. Once staged, you
have accepted the dial in.
9) Bracket style eliminations will be used at U.M.T.R. Points Events. Pairings,
lane choice and bye runs will be determined by Host Track personnel.
ONLY one bye run per car and driver per event. Unless, the final 3
remaining racers have each already had a bye run, then the bye run will
be determined by chip or card draw.
10) A Driver’s and Crew Meeting will be held at all U.M.T.R.
events. The meeting will be held at the U.M.T.R. Event Tent after second
time run. All racers and crew are strongly urged to attend.
11) A Driver/Car Registration form must be completed at the first U.M.T.R
event attended and turned in to a U.M.T.R. Official prior to the first time
run.
12) U.M.T.R. will pay Winner, Runner-Up and Semi Finalists.
13) Entry Fees: QuickStick - $50.00 admits car and driver
StreetStick - $20.00 admits car and driver
Crew members will pay the Host Track Spectator price.
14) Any Question or Complaint must first be brought to the attention of
U.M.T.R. Officials ONLY. Do not argue with track personnel for any
reason.
15) Should a rain out occur, U.M.T.R. Officials will discuss the possibility of a
rain date/make-up race with the Host Track. The Host Track will be solely
responsible for determining if a rain check or refund of entry fee will be
granted.
16) Drivers are encouraged to park together in the U.M.T.R. designated Pit
Area. Signs will be posted at each event.
17) In order to receive points you must run your permanent U.M.T.R Number
and ALL sponsor decals must be visible on both sides of the
car (example fenders, doors, quarter panels). Both quarter
windows and back window are also acceptable.
*** Failure to display the sponsor decals will result in
loss of contingency awards. ***
18) U.M.T.R. members will earn 5-points for every round in which they
compete. Event winner gets an additional 5-points
a. 2-points will be awarded to any member that has brought their race car, paid to race and turned their tech card in to host track personnel and their car broke BEFORE first round of eliminations. Entry money will go toward race purse.
* This 2-point award will not be in effect during the last 2 races of the
season.
b. 1-point will be awarded for the best reaction time during eliminations per class.
c. Rainouts: If the host track calls a rainout before eliminations no points will be awarded. A rainout during eliminations, points will be awarded for completed rounds only. No points will be awarded for partial rounds.
19) Any stick shift car is welcome to participate in any U.M.T.R. event.
However, to accumulate points (described in #17 above) you must be a
member. The Membership Fee is $40.00 per class. To compete for points in
both classes you must pay two membership fees.
20) Each U.M.T.R. Chapter will have it’s own Points Champions. Points
toward the Championships will only be earned in the chapter to which you are a member. Any driver can belong to more than one U.M.T.R Chapter during the same season.
21) Every race will be a points race. Edgewater Stick Shift Nationals and
Thompson Gear Jammer’s Bash will be DOUBLE POINTS races.

All rules are subject to change as circumstances may demand from time to time. U.M.T.R. will make every effort to give ample advance notice of any changes.

I sent you a PM also.

We will have a Pro Tree race early in the season to try and get the non pro tree peep to change their minds and to give everyone a chance at it. It seems half want it half don't some say they will not show at all if we do it. We've even had people say they would sell there car if we went to a Pro Tree.:confused:

We'll see what happens if it was up to me everything would be a pro tree.

I am all for a pro-tree. This will be my first heads up season in NMRA with a pro-tree, so i'll need all the help I can get with practicing. Makes it much more appealing to all the heads up stick cars in the area, which there are quite a few that should show up. :bigthumb

I agree we plan on running OSM series along with the UMTR and the pro tree at both events would really help out. Atleast then it would have more of a heads up feel instead of your normal saturday night specials. Any idea when the dates and locations for 2008 will be out?
thanks,

i am all for the pro tree. Like a couple others have said it will really help out if you are going to race a heads up series as well. All the post i have read on the site seem to be for the pro tree.
