No, but when he got out of the van and pulled his pants up and showed metal poles instead of legs, it was obvious that he wasn't going to run away. And with only one arm, and more than a few officers around, don't you think that slamming him to the groung was a little harsh?

ever seen a person with a fake leg run???
Ever seen one of those false legs get removed and used as a weapon??
Is there the possibility of him having his arm tucked up his sleeve with something ready to go bang???
Sorry I don't care if you are handicapped you create a FELONY situation it is going to be handled as such.
No matter your age, gender, race, sexual orientation, size, or anything. A felony stop is a felony stop and they are never fun for any party especially the violator.
I am not going to risk my safety or those around because someone has a fake leg.
Cutting slack to people we think can't hurt us can cost us our lives. Had a buddy who arrested an 87 year old woman. His thoughts were she can't hurt me so he cuffed her in the front and didn't search her. Guess what was laying in the back of the cruiser when he went to get her out? A 6" butcher knife. You can't cut corners in safety situations it will get you killed.
Just as a side note that was a pretty weak take down compared to some.

Bull shit. If I saw a dude with metal arms and legs running towards me, I would initiate a thermonuclear attack on his ass!

my views about Police and how they do things has changed drastically.
Before I became the Police I wasn't anti-police but wondered about things in the same fashion you do.
But with things I have seen and dealt with that prior to police work I would have never dreamed of.
Fr instance when a dude who had a fake arm (which i didn't know, looked normal in the sleeve) That is until he pulled it off and started swinging it at people.
