View Full Version : Is it ok that I had coolant pouring out of the oil pan when draining oil today?

I finally got some free time to pull the engine out of my car today. Right before I removed it, I drained the oil. At first, it was all just coolant. Then after a couple seconds, it turned to oil. I've had my intake manifold off the car for a while, and I drained the coolant out of the radiator about a month or two ago. I may have spilled some coolant on the lifter valley when I was in the process of removing the intake or draining the coolant, I don't really remember.
I'm just wondering if there may have been a problem back when the car was on the road. I'm changing everything, so it doesn't really matter. Its more for peace of mind.

I plan on doing that tomorrow, once I get it on the stand. There is still quite a bit of coolant in all the coolant passages on the heads.

I would think the coolant is lighter then the oil. Either way it seems bad. Hope your head gaskets still look good. If so then you will be in good shape.

Water and coolant will always settle to the bottom after sitting.

Yea, I'm wondering if there was a problem previously. Doesn't matter either way, I just bought some 1011-2's from Craig to go on the car.

I'm honestly not sure at the moment? I do have a TFS stage 1 cam, and some other bolt ons right now, but I really have no idea what's to come yet...

I will have that cam thats in my Mustang now sitting around in a few weeks. (A little bigger than a Ford F cam).....want to trade something for it?
Also, I will have a brand new Spec Stage 1 clutch that your welcome to make a offer on too.

I'm just going to stick with this cam. Its very mild and street friendly but I've seen some people make good power with it as well.
I may be interested in the clutch though, what are you wanting for it? PM me.
