will a turbo from a ford f350 make good power on a 351w in a fox,
if so is it a hard set-up to fab-up,cost wise

the reason i ask is last summer someone on here took one of a dodge truck i think and was doing like 600 horse on a stock explorer motor, was thinking ford and dodge might run similar size turbo's on trucks

I think I read somewhere that the powerstroke turbos had a weird housing on them making them difficult to use. Not impossible but alot harder.

Your best bet is to use two T3s. This guy goes 9s with them on a 351.

there are 2 different turbos on the powerstrokes! i have seen people use the early 7.3 cause the newer ones use a varible geometry type they have to be riged up funny to work! also on both you have to take and fab up a oil plate usally they use a peice of 1/2" steel or aluminum flat stock tap it to fit -10 + -4an fittings they are huge turbo though i think a 351w would spool it pretty good i seen them on 302 before! the older ones used a t4 flange "so if you dont like it would be easy to convert to a different setup"!

this is varible geometry you can tell by the acuator in the center oil cartridge!

this is the one i would try cause it is on the 94-97 it has a T4 exhaust inlet flange! so if does not work out it would be a easy switch to a defferent turbo!

There's a whole lot that goes into selecting a turbo for an application. Go over to Turbomustangs dot com and do some research. You'll find some guys who have tried this and that. Let someone else do all the dirty work for you, and you'll know which JY turbo to pick up. On a side note, I've got a buddy who works for a diesel salvage yard. He got some part #'s from me when I was looking for a unit from a big truck. When I contacted the turbo vendor to inquire about doing a rebuild, he let me know that there were 64 different models of the S400 turbo. Here's a quote.

"I can upgrade your core for 735.00 assuming its in good rebuildable condition. There are 64 different S400's out there. You would need to find a 171701 or 171702,nothing else but one of those. Everything else is different. These turbos do not come as standard equipment on any vehicle, They are a replacement for Garrett turbos off 60 series Detroit's.

In the end, it would have been cheaper to buy a brand new replacement for $580.00 shipped. I decided on a different unit.
