Well to fill you in........I bought these 17x9 cobra chrome rims from a guy in nashville TN. I traveled all the way down there, 5 hrs. down and 5hrs. back. Got the rims they werent in that bad of shape a little worse then I thought they would be but the two good tires they came with where better then I thought they would be so all in all a good deal right.......WRONG!!!!

took them to goodyear to get the bad tire on two of the rims changed with my new tire I had on my old rims. well I get a phone call saying one of the rims is bent, and by bent I mean not completly round any more, I could see it because it did have a tire on it. So f%^k im pissed by this point.

So I take the rim to Cliff Jacobs, heard he does good work, to get it fixed. Today get a phone call from him saying that he cant fix it, its too bad. So now Im really f@#ked, I already have some one lined up to buy my rims but Ive had to cancel on him to come pick them up like twice because of all this sh$t so now Im hoping he doesnt back out.

Now my only option is im going to buy a brand new one from american muscle for $170 to replace the bent one. anyone think that is will look way off. i mean with one brand new one and the other three used. the three used ones are dirty mainly on the inside of the rim and do have some dings or marks but nothing you can see from 5-8 ft. away.

f@#king sh#t stupid ba#@erd d@#k monkey b@#ls!!!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

Sorry just had to get that out. Im so sick of dealing with all this. lession is dont buy anything used from someone you dont know and an even better lession there is no such thing as a GOOD DEAL.

I paid $250 for these four rims and tires (2 good tire 2 trash tires) :flipoff:

at least you got something out of it, three good wheels and a learning experience. i learned this too when i purchased fuel pump off ebay. didn't think anything about it until 3 months later when flow testing it, it leaked from casing with only 10 psi. i paypal'd money, no luck getting return or reply from seller. lesson learned, new is sometimes cheaper with less problems.

thats what one of my buddys said to do, maybe not the gravel but he said beat it up a lil. :flipoff: lol

If im paying 170 for one im not beating/throwing anything at it :flipoff:

and yea new is cheaper with less problems I agree

maybe you'll find someone at the cavalcade in march that can repolish the used ones cheap, probably not but hopeful wishing. if your worried how your car looks from the side maybe you need more parts so all they see is the rear

sucks to hear about a busted trip. I agree about finding some good wheel polish and going to town on them. I doubt anybody will say anything and if they do tell them to shove it :D

Im not really worried about other ppl, Honestly I could care less, I just want to know for my own restless mind. When I bought the car it was mint, never driven and keep in a garage. I drive it every day and notice every little DD scratch or ding on it. I lose sleep over it some times

So if the rims would look that off it would drive me nuts!!!!!!!

The exact set that you are talking about. Eagle Alloys 1995 Cobra R Replicas. Wrapped in 255 GForce Sports in the front and 275 Comp T/A 2's out back.

Sorry to hear about the deal going sour....
I was only supposed to spend $450 with Pro-Motion
but somehow the bill magically went to $853..... :bangwall:

I've learned over the years... You either do one of two things...

A. Go on and pretend it didn't happen....(which most people do by the way)

B. Sell everything you have to do with cars..... (I've always wondered why people sell their stuff but now I see why.... this car stuff is a love/hate relationship and a person can only take so much....)

Good Luck! :bigthumb

I've had work done by Cliff......he'll be honest when it's FUBARED.

Wish people I do trannys for would understand it. Sure I can fix it, but it won't be cheap!

yea cliff was fair to me. HE tried to fix it but couldnt get it exactly back to normal so he didnt charge me. pretty nice guy.

yea 12seclx I think Im going with option A.) I would never just sell everything, no way!!!!
I ordered one new one from american muscle last night so we'll see how it looks compared to the 3 used. I mean even with all this I only paid $310, thats with gas and everything for the trip down there, and $170 for one new one so all and all about $490 for four cobra R replicas and I got two better tires then what I have on my rear now so the more I think about it...it really wasnt that bad of a deal it just wasnt as good of a deal as I thought/hoped it would be.

But I am just going to chalk it up to experience and roll with it. It sounds like most of you have been in some sort of situation like this and I love cars just like all of you so I need to pick my spots and get used to it and learn from this one and move on.

Thanks guy I'll throw pics up after all is said and done. and a "BIG" thanks to facemelter71 for the help with swaping my tires and all the info.

yea thats what Ive heard and he said my rim was pretty bad. He said they can normally fix %98 of rims they get but mine was one of the f@#king %2 that he couldnt. but he gave it a try and they dont charge ppl for the rims they can not fix. That suprised me...all the time they put into my rim to try and fix it and he couldnt so he doesnt charge me !!!! thats awsome that they do that. and that shows you right there they have to fix %98 of the rims they get to stay in buisness.

Before I left I told him I heard he was the best around and he was really glad to hear it. He played it off being modist but I could tell he liked to hear stuff like that, but who doesnt like to hear stuff like that about their buisness.

Jim at goodyear on Glenway is a real good guy too any body know him?

I almost got raked on a set of "bargain" FR500 knock off's. 3 of the 4 were bent to Sh?t. The set in question had caught a good amount of air on a 98 cobra with 4 passengers before returning hastily to the earth. Needless to say I passed on the "deal" and dropped plenty of negative feedback.

A good rule of thumb with any used set of rims is to take them to a tire store or even a walmart/sams club and watch them on a balancer. Less than $20 to ensure your wheel/tire combo is what it presents itself to be. IF the seller declines look elsewhere. You still did pretty well for a set of R's with 2 tires.
Enjoy the new look.
