My buddy has a 302 .30 over afr 185's Vortech 5psi supercharger. 30lbs inj. fuel pressure with vac. line off in 40. Has a 255 fuel pump. FMU. Timing is set to 10' .The car will not idle for shit. TPS is set at .99. Base idle is around 800rpm. Idle starts surgeing up and down then shuts off. Driving the car and coming to a stop the car with die unless giving it some gas then it will smooth out for a min. Any idea's? Does he also need bigger injectors? Maybe 42's? Thanks for any help.

check the simple things first.

Make sure the MAF is plugged in and clean. Make sure the TPS sensor is plugged in. Verify your timing. Make sure you don't have any loose vacuum hoses etc.

Does the car have a tune on it?

Unplug your iac motor(doodad that mounts to the t.b.), if the car dies, turn your idle screw on the t.b. a little bit. make sure you plug it back in. What kind of bypass valve is he running, does it have a good vacuum source? I would upgrade to at least 42 lb inj. and do away with the fmu.

Just the Vortech blowoff bypass valve.

Blowoff or bypass, they're different

Basically if you unplug your iac motor and the car dies, that means your iac cant bleed off enough air, by turning your idle screw your increasing your idle, your taking load off of your iac motor. If you unplug your iac and the car runs about the same, it's probably not your idle speed, but 800 is pretty low for a s/c car.

Sorry, it is a bypass. What do you think the idle should be set to?

I dont know what headers or exhaust your running, A buddy of mine had bassani piece together headers, and didnt use the band clamps, and it was allowing cold air into the exhaust and the o2's were messing it up. I say, get a tune on a wideband and get rid of the o2's and be done with it. I did, and wont go back.

What mass air meter does he have? I had a C&L on my other car and I got it to idle better by turning the meter to where the sensor was at the 3 or9 o'clock postion believe it or not.
