I have an oil pan gasket leak on the '88. I have a new Felpro rubber (the blue one) gasket. I have been told that you can do this in frame. Is this true? Anyone done it this way? Or should we go ahead and pull the motor?

Thanks

Craig

Ive done it.
3 times.
Once on an 85 couger 5.0 and twice on my mustangs.
Just remove the two rack bolts and move the rack outta the way and your good.

If the pan is good you do not need to remove it all the way. lower the rack makes alot of room. If you need more than that loosen the fan shroud remove the motor mount bolts and jack the engine up by a block of wood on a floor jack by the crank pulley. Remove your old gasket clean up the block and pan as good as you can.put a dab of black silicone in the corners of the mains where the gasket goes. You can do all of this with the pan just lowered down on the k member. Take the new gasket and slide it under the pan roll it around the pan and then raise it up to the block. Dont try to put the gasket in the pan to get around the mains. It is so much easier to wrap the gasket around the pan.
