wondering if the stock steel headgaskets are reusable?? 4.6 i hear the headbolts are not reusable

No.And the bolts I believe are Torque to yield.

I beleive they are suppose to be reusable but I wouldn't. I don't think I know anyone who has either.

You can get the entire head changing kit for about $110 or so that includes the head gaskets and bolts. I think buying the bolts alone is more than hald of the cost of the kit.

Neither the gaskets or head bolts are reusable. I bought the above said kit since I'm not planning on cracking the motor open again. If you are, buy the ARP bolts. I think the exhaust gaskets are reusable but new ones come in the kit so I used them.


P.S. And make sure you put the dipstick back in before you tighten down the manifold.

headbolts i would not re-use, but we're on cycle #5 on re-using the headgaskets with ARP head studs. but its only a pure street 4V :lol:

You never reuse head gaskets or head bolts.If you need a good set of head gaskets pm me i have a real good friend that works at koi and give me great deals

we do, and have had no problems with them at all. I wouldn't recommend it for your street car, but when you tear a motor down as much as we do, $150 bucks a pop isn't cheap and you learn a few tricks to re-use them ;)
