im looking at 4.6 SOHC to drop into (or rather to put under) my t-bird what is the best motor to go with i have been looking at explorers they seem to be cheaper then the mustangs the mods i am planing on are just the normal bolt ons cams cold air underdrive pullys sct maybe a small wet kit for shitts and giggles i alredy have a cowl hood that i hope will be tall enough

The Explorer/Mountaineer long blocks would have the PI heads and an aluminum block which means its about 80 lbs lighter than the mustang equivalent.

karkraft.com has 2001-2004 Explorer 2V motors for $1895.00 and 3V for $1995.00 (new) and a used Mustang 3V (with 440 miles) for $2695.00

I know where a Teksid 4.6 from a Mark VIII sits for cheap.

best SOHC modular would be a 4.6 or 5.4 3v.

best 2V 4.6's for the money are from your local u-pull-it, and as it has been said before, come out of Explorer's/Mountaineer's.

Same with the Teksid blocks, they had 2 MarkVIII's last time I was there. We grabbed the e-fan for $10.

Alright Cameron, you have my attention.

What is the difference between a 4.6 long block and short block...if there is any? Please proceed to have diareahha of the mouth because you know how I am with 2v weight reduction.
(I'm at 3090, help me loose 90 lbs.)

A shotblock is the block, crank, rods and pistons.

A longblock adds the heads, cam(s) and timing chain(s).

These are common terms for all engines. They are not referring to the length of any particular engine.
