Official rules state if any rain date is required, it will be made up after Oct. 18th. Oct. 18 is the "rain date" for the Nationals.

The rules state that only the stick shift nationals has a scheduled rain date !!

Must be different rules than posted on the web site, the only references to rain are:
16.) Should a rain out occur, U.M.T.R. Officials will discuss the possibility of a rain date/make-up race with the Host Track. The Host Track will be solely responsible for determining if a rain check or refund of entry fee will be granted.
c.) Rainouts: If the host track calls a rainout before eliminations no points will be awarded. A rainout during eliminations, points will be awarded for completed rounds only. No points will be awarded for partial rounds.

The schedule has the SS nats rain date. That doesn't mean a make-up can't be negotiated and scheduled for any other race!
Thats why I recommended that two rain dates be scheduled if possible for make up of regular races BWDIK.

Hey Gene,
Yes you are correct. Here's the problem, that track isn't going to be any good in my opinion for a couple weeks. This puts us right up against the April 26th race in Columbus. Then we have 2 races every month from May until Sept. and the SSN on Oct 11th. I would say as long as the SSN doesn't rain out we could use the Oct. 18th date as the make up for this race sense its already scheduled.

The rules state that only the stick shift nationals has a scheduled rain date !!

The rules may state the above, but the 2008 schedule from the UMTR public web site states the following:

September 13th Edgewater Sports Park, Cleves, OH
September 20th Gear Jammers Bash, Thompson Raceway Park, Cleveland, OH
October 11th Stick Shift Nationals, Edgewater Sports Park, Cleves, OH
October 18th Rain date for Stick Shift Nationals

If a make-up race is required it will be scheduled after October 18th.The United Manual Transmission Racers is a OPEN group of stick shift drag racers.

I only see one way to interpret it, that being the information I offered earlier in this thread. If the public schedule is incorrect, please correct it.

If a make-up race is required

I think that says it all right there. It doesnt say UMTR is obligated to schedule a rain out date for every race that rains out, only if THEY feel it is needed. You guys dont know how hard it is to get regular dates let alone a make up date after all of the track schedules are set. No one could have seen this flood coming and it sucks the first race had to be cancelled but unfortunatly thats part of promoting an outdoor event. I would rather have an event get completely washed out then get half way through & have to deal with that nightmare.

Well Said! :bigthumb

I think a few people have been looking forward to this first race so
they weren't too fond of it being cancelled... That's all....

Thanks. I definitely know the feeling, i had to cancel my first race in april last year due to snow lol! It sucked bigtime, all of the hype that had been building up was gone, not to mention money spent on advertising, etc. I guess the good side to this is the next UMTR race is Apr 26 which is out first race also and im doing everything i can to make it the biggest opening race yet!
