4 cylinder drive shaft

Maybe its just me, but my 4 cyl. drive shaft looks exactly like a V8 shaft except for the giant dampner on the front of it... If I somehow get that dampner off of the nose of it does it become the same driveshaft used on a V8? thanks

I have a buddy who's ran both and he had vibration issues with the 4 banger shaft.. I believe that big donut is some kind of balancer because taking it off didn't make it any better.
