Start/right click My Computer/Manage/Event Viewer/System

Look for errors and tell us what they say.

Who is "THEY" and why would "they" start replacing parts that have nothing to do with the problem ? I would avoid "THEY" like the plague!

Most likely the CPU is overheating since the dielectic grease (heat conductor) has gone bad and hardened up.

Take the CPU out, clean off the old grease. Regrease, reinstall CPU.

:LSKnfkwefwwfer.

no. The cpu is not over heating and causing issues. I mean that in the friendliest way possible.

Your system is hosed with bloatware/spyware/malware/virues....IE- the porn you and/or your kids look at have hosed your system, it needs wiped and re done. Like stated, Mach U advertises (at least on FOMF) that he does home owner repair jobs.

Its the power supply. Those are symptoms of a bad power supply. A pc the will reboot itself at random times, normally when doing strenuous things like putting extra power to things like a modem or net card, sound card, or spinning up harddrives.

no. The cpu is not over heating and causing issues. I do PC/Laptop repairs on the side myself.

And yes, it very well "could" be a bad and/or overheating CPU (OLD dieletic grease). :cool2: I've repaired several this way in the past.

Actually there are several instances than CAN cause this exact symptom. Either case, it's most likely hardware related since "they" swapped out the HDD already.

Thanks for the kind words guys! I would be more than happy to take a look at it for you. I realize you are a bit of a haul a way. How often do you get close to Cincy? I wouldn't mind meeting you up towards Tri-County, Fairfield direction and save you the extra 30+ min of driving if it helps? Let me know. Honestly it could be quite a few things. I've seen faulty power supplies, bad memory, bad drivers, etc. cause the symptoms you described. If they simply ghosted your old hard drive onto the new, there could be OS corruption, spyware - basically there could be a million and ten things wrong with it. Shoot me a PM if you would like to meet up. :bigthumb
