I had a buddy run high 9's for a couple seasons with a stock t-5. So he may be telling the truth.

My yellow 86 went through 4 T-5's with only 300 lb-ft of torque.I completly ripped the teeth out of the input shaft of one.I dont know how any one can have a stock t-5 with that kinda power.
i had bad luck with the t5 also had a 69 351 w .030 over 69 c9 heads with 202 160 valves with a 650 holley and i messd up 2 of them so i put a toploader in mine

What are you trying to say Im lying. There is many guys on here who knew him. Matter a fact Mr know it all, Flying2JZ here on the boards has a stock t-5 with 100000 plus miles. Hes been putting over 400 plus horse power through it for more than 3 years. I know they are not made to handle the power but with a good driver not power shifting them, they can last.

Well Mark your kind of right. Kevin's t5 (old nelly) is a freak. It took 350-450 for at least 3 yrs, running as fast as 11.40 in a full weight gt. That t5 (he switched to a g force 1 month ago) was stock with 140k on it and still shifted great, and had no mods whatsoever. He only switched because he was worried about breaking it.
Our other buddy you mentioned had a 410 stroker that ran low 10's when it was a five speed(t5), he raced numerous wild street races with a t5, driving the car to and from events. This was about 7-8 yrs ago. He actually kept two t5's, which were world class, and raced one while the other was being fixed. Not very many people knew that, that would have ruined everyone's surprise.
He eventually went to a lentech and ran high 9's, with more spray. But like Mark said, they aren't designed for anywhere near 500 hp, but they can hold it for awhile. But in a dyno situation, I bet they could take 7-800, the track would different.

What are you trying to say Im lying.Did I accuse you or say you where lying Hulkster ???? NO!!
So, instead of getting your little panties in a bunch, how about READING what is actually typed BEFORE jumping to conclusions!!
Like others have stated already, this is NOT typical of MOST OEM T5s!
