I think mine go 70. No point in going faster since the speed limit around here is limited to that. Anything higher is just silly.

For reference:

When I was 16 I got a 117mph in a 65mph and they took my license for 3 months and paid a petty fine.

How ever, a few months ago, at 19, I got a 95 in a 65 and was threatened with jail and the works. I ended up having to do 40 freaking hours of CS. Bad speeding tickets are NO joke!!

Hey!! That's not true, I always take good care of that car. I kick a$$ one time on the road in that car and apparently I've become street racer extraordinaire or something. You are one to talk mister!!:nono:

I think you guys did get pretty lucky, that is a big ticket!! Well, at least she's broken in now and you can enjoy those SVT GIRL license plates!! ;)

cobra_SVT_Girl
04-01-2008, 09:21 AM
Well, the officer got him out, patted him down, put him in the back of the cruiser.......then talked to him the whole time about the car. Where we got it, how much hp, what's the fastest ET, how he liked the color. LOL

The ticket thingy says:
"If your speed is 26 MPH or more over the posted speed limit on a first offense, payout is $160"

He got busted right when we got on 275 going from Beechmont to Eastgate. Just trying out the boost :)

I'm sure it won't be the last ticket in that car........

I got a reckless op in July 2003, 3 months after I bought the coupe from Craig. I was taking a friend a ride in it, and peeled out of his driveway fishtailing all the way down the street. Didn't know good ole NR Police were sitting at a stop sign behind me. I went to school with the dude, you would have thought he would give me a break, but nooooooo.... he had to give me a reckless op, and I had NO tickets or accidents on my record.

Oh well, luckily a friend attorney went to court with me, 3 times, and we got it reduced to a broken tail light, $90 fine. A lot better than the 4 points I was looking at!

The ticket is still sitting on the mirror in the basement, where Vinny put it. He was proud of me for that one.

I've only been taken to jail once, it was 114 in a 35. (don't bash, I am an idiot) You must get Nazi officers, I usually have really good experiences with the police, mainly they ask how fast I was going, I tell them, they say nice car and I get a written warning. I have been well over 26 and been pulled over, several times.

Me and Smoke got were going around 160mph in my old T/A on 129 when we came across a road block on high street in Hamilton. They surrounded us and pulled me from the car and asked me how fast I was going, I said realy fast. they laughed. A few minutes later a Farfield township cop pulled in and said he had been trying to catch me for several miles and couldnt get a clock on me. (I never seen him back there LOL) So they had to let me go. That was my lucky day.LOL. There was prob 10 or so Sheriffs stitting there waiting on us when got to high street. It was crazy.:D

Ok... So I read this thread earlier today before I went to work and didn't post anything about it... but as I got to work I started thinking about how this bothered me? How exactly did he get out of going to Jail? Are the laws that different in Ohio that driving at an unsafe speed (40+ over the limit) is not that big a deal? I am not trying to start anything or make a big stink of this... its just bothered me. When I was 19, actually the day of my 19th birthday I was leaving work and heading to my birthday party and I was clocked doing 83ish in a 55. I was pulled over, asked to step out of the car and put in handcuffs and taken to jail. My licence was suspended for 30days and it was somewhere in the ballpark of $500 in fines. Like I said I am not trying to start shit, its good for him that he is not in nearly as much trouble as he would down here in KY... but it just amazes me how differently things are treated...

And I wouldn't let him behind the wheel of the car for a while either....

Well I hear what your saying BUT he did'nt hit the 40 over mark! 37 over just a pricey ticket and good day! As much as I hate to say it I think age plays into it alot too. I've got out of stuff at 37 I would never have got out of at 19 when I had my 89 GT!

yeah my mistake on the 40... it was damn close though. And age shouldn't matter for anything... if it came into play, someone who is older should know better than to do that. And the Cop should realize that simply writing a ticket for something like this doesn't make the person learn a lesson. After my experience at 19 I damn sure have learned that going that fast isn't worth sitting a holding cell with a a bunch of people who are in there for far worse things than driving a car too fast

Life is too short not to have a little fun. Now if he was going 100+ in a school zone then yeah....that's BS....but it's 275 my brotha....

If you own a Cobra and you haven't held her wide open on the highway then someone needs to revoke your man card. Cause that's just not right....

Odds are, he was probably doing +40 mph, and seeing as how the cop was cool and liked the car, probably cut him a break by "only" writing the ticket for +37 mph. MOST of the time, if you have a fairly clean MVR, and are cool with the police, they will cut you a break. I was clocked doing 98 in a 55 in Union County Ohio, but he only wrote the ticket for 94 in a 55 so I could just waive and pay the fine instead of having to go to court.

...and cobra_SVT_Girl...I hope you guys can still afford the insurance at the end of summer!
