I'm still thinking I'll eventually have to build an old fox body stang to whip some porshe and ferrari butt. Hell $300 isn't that bad, I have friends that spend almost that on entry fees a weekend to go drag racing.

I will be a member of that place, eventually. :)

I considered it until I saw the deposit.

Once the track is built and paid for, I expect we'll see those costs come down.

Eh... I'm sorta fond of the Brown County Autobahn anyway :D... Thats too rich for my blood just to drive on some asphalt, heck everyday is a race for me!

Oh look! a Ferarri in the mud!

Looks like the track will have plenty of elevation changes, some good off camber challenges...and a few trees a bit too close fo my liking!

I remember a few years ago when they were still looking for big investors and sent out 3D drawings of the track. It will be an extremely nice track. Would be nice to see some bigger series come there such as Grand Am and stuff.

Good news despite the price. Another track is always a good thing.

I can't wait to see this finished. I will definitely be participating in some track days.

If you think about it, for the automotive enthusiasts around here we're pretty lucky. We have:
4 drag strips within an hour (Edge, Kilkare, Thorn Hill, and Tristate)
2 dirt tracks (Lawrenceburg and Florence)
4 places where AutoX events are regularly held (Riverdowns, Kentucky Speedway, Kilkare, and Scarlett Oaks)
2 asphalt ovals (kentucky speedway and Kilkare)
....Now a road course!

We're in an area where there is always something going on. You can get your fix every weekend. I'm really not the biggest fan of living in the Cinci area with all the BS around here, but the car guys are in good shape!

Those were just the ones I could think of off the top of my head. More is always better. There's always something to do around here, that's for sure.

I wish my Dad was into racing and fast cars. He's got enough cash to get any of those packages no problem. Toss me a few guest passes, yea, that'd be cool.... I do know one guy who may buy in, I'll have to try to scam a guest pass from him. I'd love to take the Cobra on a road course.

Oh look! a Ferarri in the mud!

Look closer, it's parked on a nice thick layer of mulch. The tires aren't even dirty.

I was talking locally, within an hour drive. Mid Ohio is cool but aint exactly right around the block. One way or another we're still pretty spoiled gear heads.

As far as Road Courses there are a few option in this area: Mid Ohio (3+ hour drive), Putnam Park IN (2-1/2 hr. drive) and now Bluegrass (1 hr. drive)

It will be a bit expensive and a real novelty for a few years. Look for the cost of membership to drop in 10 years.

The cheapest way to get on track is join NASA and do one of the HPDE events. 2 days with a lot of track time, a ride along instructor (you will be surprised how much you don't really know) all for around $400. You'll get around 4 hours of actual seat time and some school room sessions and your very own instructor for the money....how much would you have to spend to get that much track time at any dragstrip?

Keep an eye out, I would bet NASA will have a date at Bluegrass within the first 2 years.

or WOR Games, OVR might even have an event at Bluegrass.

The associate membership has drastically dropped:
# Initiation Fee: $4900 (financing available)
# Annual Dues:

* You have the option to pay your dues in monthly payments or one annual payment per year.
o Option 1: $105 per month, or
o Option 2: One 1,200 annual payment

I like the way that sounds a lot more. Hell, I may get a membership after I get out of college, haha

A couple aerial shots from over the weekend. Fantastic photos. the one aspect that is somewhat lacking from the photos is the level of elevation changes, but the previous photos address some of the elevation features.

That is one long ass straightaway! But looking at it closer - it will take balls to stay on the burners through the LH sweeper and hammer the brakes into turn 2 - not a very "straight" braking zone. Looks like it is going to be very challenging!

That is definitely sounding better. As soon as I can afford a truck, trailer, and another car I am in. :D

I think I will just build an SCCA solo foxbody and stick to parking lots and airports! Fun as hell and $35.00! I do plan to rent one of Steve Poes cars next season to get a feel for the road coarse though. Defintely test your skills! Putnam Park is somewhat close to me.

WARNING: Auto-X to Road Course is like going from Beer right to the Crack Pipe. You have been warned. ;)

Also need to slow you steering and throttle inputs on the track, not stab and steer around a sea of cones :)

I forsee the decreasing radii heading into the Mid Ohio like Carosuel beibg interesting as well, like cars spin right into the center!
