I need some opinions and reviews on these Pypes Stainless Steel headers. Are they good quality? True fit? Can they be put on without pulling the engine? Will there be much of a noticable difference? etc.

Pypes is on the lower end in the arena of headers for the S197. Best quality out there for longtubes these days seems to be Stainless works and ARH headers. I have MAC on mine and I like them for a cost/performance perspective. Pairing their longtubes with their o/r prochamber gives a nice muscle sound without being as in your face as an o/r h or have the cackle of an o/r x.

That link is for a pair of shorty headers. I wouldn't go through the hassle of installing a set of shorty headers on any mod motor car.

Yes shorties will gain you zero power on the 3v's. The stock manifolds are great and the only gain to be had is by going to longtubes.

Thanks guys. It's actually my dad's car. He hates looking down and seeing the rusty manifolds, found those, they looked good and were a direct bolt on, but if there won't be a performance gain then I don't think it would be worth the hassle of putting them on.

Installing any set of long tubes will likely require the removal of the k member as well.

It isn't 100% nessasary, but isn't hard at all on a lift. We elected to remove my K-member when we did my long tubes. Make it really easy on yourself and get a BMR k-member while you are at it.
