When we ran on race gas we left them in.
When we swapped to alcohol we pulled it. Helps keep the shit out.

Yeah it never caused any problems after years of using it, only reason we pulled it is because alcohol will eat it up.

Thats what they consider to be foam. It helps to keep the fuel sloshing down to a minimum.

measure the LxWxH and look in the jegs catalog. They carry that style, it should be pretty easy to find the capacity that way.

The foamy stuff is to baffel/stop fuel slosh - it is only a problem if it starts to break down (it will start showing up in your fuel filter). I'm sure you could imagine at the strip - hard launch, wheels up - fuel goes to rear of tank, wheels come down - fuel goes to front of tank, hard shift.......and it keeps going. The foam just minimzes the affect of uncontrolled motion.
For my road racing it is absolutely imperative I mimimize fuel slosh as during hard cornering it could upset the balance of the car and cuase me to lose control.
You might want to check with the tank manufacturer. Some of the newer foam materials will accept both race gas and alcohol.
And contrary to popular belief, it does NOT absorb the fuel like a sponge. You do get every last drop out of your tank.
