Wow hats a tight fit...I have one question though ....What is up with the coil packs and the dist???

It's an AEM EPM:

http://www.aemelectronics.com/engine-management-systems-9/engine-position-module-epm-24/

It replaces the distributor, coil and any ignition boxes. A lot of guys have timing errors with the AEM boxes when using a distributor.

I thought of this too, and pushed the motor forward like it would be if the trans was in there and the firewall clearance is there but doesn't affect how tight it is on the valve cover.

It will if you rotate the dp on the turbo flange just a little I bet.

Well thats cool then.... where are you going to mount all of the coil packs though?

True, I will give that a try.

I'm going to let Rigid decide. I'm guessing valve covers though.

They're actually from an LSX based truck so yes. The trucks have aluminum heat sinks on the tops of them.

Don't have a whole lot to update here.

I was really set on keeping the power steering on the car until I bought my MR2 that had factory delete power steering and I could hardly tell. After feeling two foxes with the flaming river racks in them I decided to ditch the power steering. Crazy how little there is in the engine bay right now.

I also went with some shorter springs up front as I didn't like how high the car was on the 14" springs, with the coilovers adjusted all the way down. In these pics, I still have room to go down further and I don't have the trans, fluids and a few other small items still needed to install on the front so it should come down even more:

Coilpacks also are now mounted on the valve covers. Besides the power steering pump now being gone this is what the engine bay looks like:

I'll do it once you paint your car and the bottom of your hood is the same color as the rest of the car.

I'm stuck on a decision right now and could use some input.

Wednesday, the motor will be coming out to pull the pan. The reason for doing this is I had to remove the rear main cap to send to Moroso when having clearance problems with their pan and I also removed the stud on the middle main cap to replace with the shorter stud that came with the Moroso pan.

I can't remember if I completely removed the middle cap but I did at least loosen it to replace the stud. I don't believe I removed it completely, but I can't remember as this was at least 9-10 months ago.

I called and spoke with Brian at BES today and he informed me that the thrust bearing is near that middle cap. He told me to call back after he had a chance to speak with Tony about it, being that at least one cap was removed at one point.

After calling back, Tony said it would be fine to just retorque everything as it is. I don't think I have any choice but to trust Tony as he is my engine builder and obviously knows way more than I do. I guess my only other option would be to take the motor back out there to have them check it over. The problem is I live over an hour away from Indiana now and I would love to not have to spend any more money on this part of the car.

What would you guys do?

As far as the process that I was going to do once the pan gets pulled is to remove all of the nuts and washers and clean them up. I'm going clean the pickup stud that moroso provided and use a light coat of clean engine oil on the stud, as I put ARP lube on the bottom threads when I first installed it like a dummy. I will then use the ARP lube on the top and bottom of the washer as well as the bottom of the nut and use the arp lube on the top threads of the studs and retorque to 95 lb/ft in 3 equal steps.

Anyone see any problems here?

I just can't help but think in the back of my head how much it would suck to get everything together and going since it's so close just to have a bottom end problem.

Ah lol. I'm running the P&P 30-1400 unit.

The guy I actually bought the EPM off of is running a series 2 box from a honda however, that he got to work on his mustang. He wanted control of each individual coil.

A slight update I guess. More of an update on a few parts I've collected. I've made yet another slight change in trannies and will update when it arrives.

Thanks to TonyT ended up going with the thin, good flowing Contour fan. Unfortunately it only has one heat shield which I figured out after I got the fan. I'm going to sand the one heat shield that I do have down and paint it so it's not so nasty looking.

Aaron P alt bracket is also here. Very cool piece:

Hopefully I can get some pics of the new wheels on the car soon!

Just waiting on the UPS man now and the engine and trans can go back in, then it's wiring time then it's vroom vroom.

How do you make boxes stay on the shelf like that?

I'm thinking about trying one of Aaron's low mount brackets, mine is sitting pretty high. How much was it, James?

Haha don't know why that pic rotated like that?

I think the Alt bracket ended up being $105 shipped. It depends on what water pump you have. I think the CSR & Pro Comp pump brackets are $120 where everything else is $105.

I think the Moroso is the more expensive piece and from what I've read, looks like it's $130 now and I don't think he has those in stock. That's the pump I had until I figured out you can't run heat with it.

Here's a few pics of the wheels on the car. Not sure how I feel about them yet, want to get the car to ride height first and then decide:
